This is the classic dream truck. If you always wanted to find an original paint, low mileage example of a vintage pickup, here it is. This 1979 Ford F-100 Ranger XLT seems to be the same truck that left the Louisville assembly four decades ago, right down to the original 302 V8.Ford put everything they had into the F-100 for 1979. This was the last year for the highly stylized chrome accents on their upper level trim lines like the Ranger. On a truck like this, bright strips help to serve as a guide to demonstrate how straight the bodylines are. The factory-correct bright red paint mixes shine with the now popular-patina, and so we suspect it's original to this Ford. But despite the vintage image, it still has a lot of practical daily use left in it. After all, a nice large bed and a trailer hitch on the step bumper will help this F-Series be a useful tool. But if this low mileage truck earned its stripes going to work, there's very little evidence of it thanks to the bed liner. This one even still wears the factory wheel covers. If you liked the red exterior, then you'll love looking inside. The dash, door panels, and headliner all match the exterior in a shade that is usually seen in an aggressive sports car. An especially nice touch is the seat. Made in durable vinyl in the high-wear spots, and comfortable weave where you sit, it couldn't be nicer. The Ranger trim level means this one also has nice wood accents all along the dash, doors, and steering wheel. And as a loaded Ranger this one was also optioned with an 8-track stereo and air conditioning both of which still work great today!Take a look under the hood and you'll know this is a survivor quality blue oval. The 302 cubic-inch V8 is original and does not appear to have been fussed with over the years. Averaging less than 900 miles annually has given this pickup the carefully worn-in appearance that impresses the most at car shows and cruise-ins today. You can even see the jack is still mounted in its original strap! So while you might not have thought about buying this to show off, be prepared to attract a lot of attention. Still, deep down this is a workhorse. The V8 has plenty of grunt, and the included maintenance records will show that it has all the right car to easily make light work of any task you throw at it. Plus, the three-speed automatic, power steering, and front disc brakes are all handy features for everyday use.Complete with owner's manual and original warranty card, this F-100 is your new best friend.
