1932 Ford Other Description

I think I’m crazy, but I what to do go different direction for my family cruiser, so I’m putting my tub up for sale. Sorry guys, no trades as I already have something in mind.

Up for grabs is an original 1932 ford Phaeton/ Touring. Body is Austrailian, frame is American.

Production numbers on the phaeton are: 771 produced in Austraila, 5251 total produced world wide.

Reproduction parts used are:

Windshield frame, upper and lower stancions, rear view mirror.

Brookville dash board,

Routlib hood with exact/correct 25 louvers side panels just like Henry’s,

Vintique grill shell, bezel, emblem, and radiator cap.

new hood hooks.

new Walker Z line flathead radiator.

Body is really clean and solid and has great old patina paint. Very little sheet metal repair is needed, espcially for an open car. There are 2 quarter sized spots on the drivers side rear door, and the flange that holds the rear wood in place is weak in a few spots. Easy fixes. Both front doors have a few pinholes at the bottom, but isnt worth messing with until you paint it, or the patina preferance goes out of style. The rear sheet metal/bustle is loose. Someone at some point drill the spot welds I’m assuming to get access to replace a piece of wood structure at the base of the rear body right above the gas tank. It would be difficult to replace without removing that portion of the body. It just needs to be lined back up and spot welded at the wheel wells.

Wood is useable as is for the patina vibe, but would think some of it will need to be replaced later on for a full restoration. The wrap around rear wood where the top mounts is mostly gone so that will need to be replaced. Please look at the pics, they can describe it best.

The dash. Brookville panel filled with original 40’s Stewart warner 2 3/8 rear mount gauges.

Both water Temps are matching and NOS.

Oil Temp is NOS but has some browning on a few of the numbers.

Air pressure is NOS but the case was changed to a different clocking.

Tach is NOS but the case was changed to a steel case with a different clocking.

Speedometer is a 32-3 hupmoblie which was an early take off. Beautiful face and needle and overall very nice. The only problem with it is the trip reset housing needs repaired which is common on the Auburn/ hupmobile gauges because of its length.

Gas is restored.

Everything else is very nice used unrestored condition.

Map lights are NOS.

Indicator light is NOS.

49 ford choke knobs are nice used.

Column drop is a 32 v8 model and works with a key.

Steering wheel is a 41 ford from what I can tell, with a 41 Merc horn ring.

Grille insert is an original and pretty nice but does have afew loose bars at the bottom.

Frame is a nice original with some of its original paint on it. Frame is bolted together, all the rivets have been removed at some point during its 84 year run. Over all a clean frame. There is some light pitting here and there on the top of the rails under the body, but very minimal. All three sets of numbers are clearly visible. Front and rear crossmembers are clean. Front has been modified at some point to lower the front an inch or so with out swaping to a model a. Really nice work for a 50’s/60’s mod. Rear crossmember is clean but has had a few cracks repaired at some point. K member has some light pitting on it. The only thing that needs addressed is there are cracks on both sides above the rear axle from botteming out.

Industrial Chassis rear K legs are also used.

Steering box is a 34 with a 32 sector housing and pitman arm.

Front suspension is nice. no pitting. Nice clean and straight stock 32 wishbone. Stock perch pins. Nice clean Dago dropped axle-non heavy. Good kingpin and perch holes. Reversed eye front main leaf with new shackles. New kingpins and bushings in the 39 spindles. Nice origial/patina paint 46 backing plates- brakes are loaded, but most likely need rebuilt.

Rear diff is a 34 with 4.11’s Nice clean metal like everything else no pitting. Bearing surfaces are good. 40 rear brakes-loaded but most likely need to be rebuilt. Reversed eye original rear main leaf. The spring pack is half stacked so I could play with stance while I gathered parts.

1936 ford 21 stud with an 8ba Eddie Meyer intake. 94 carbs. 39 trans. Engine turns over. I do not know if its an LB. It came out of a truck and has been bored .030 over and then .060 (according to the stamps on the deck)before it was parked. It has a sticky/stuck valve that needs replaced from sitting. Shouldn’t take much to get it fired up. Trans should be useable as is. I didn’t see any chipped gears when I had the top off. Carbs will need gone through.

The wheels are 35 wires that are powder coated. New firestone 5.00x16 ribs and new firestone 7.50x16. Beauty rings are original ford pieces and are driver quality. Hubcaps are aftermarket cragar knock off style and are aluminum.

Headlights are Guide 903j on cut down 32 headlight bar turned into headlight stands.
