1956 T Bird Ford Thunderbird Barn Find
1956 Ford Thunderbird Description
This 1956 Thunderbird is considered to be a barn find in that it has been in storage for many years. Prior to being stored the engine, transmission, radiator and complete front end were professionally rebuilt, along with a new convertible top installed. The owner contacted me due to my restoration business and inquired if I would be willing to sell this car for him. I had the car brought over to my shop and replaced the fuel tank with a new stainless steel tank, installed a new fuel pump, rebuilt the starter, changed the oil, checked all the fluids, and installed a new correct maintenance free reproduction battery. The car runs beautifully but systems would need testing and shaking out on the open road. It has desirable options including rear Continental kit, right hand mirror, and overdrive transmission. The five Goodyear reproduction tires are in like new condition. The interior, which is mostly original, is in good condition, with only one split in the drivers seat back. Some of the chrome has been cleaned to show the condition as pictured, but the car would clean up very nicely. The exterior paint is in need of cleaning and polishing with a possible refinish being in order. It has general scratches and dents but is solid and does not appear to need body panel replacement. There is no evidence of prior collision damage. The undercarriage is clean and all original under coating intact. Body floor bracing and rocker panels look solid and original. It is a worthy find and would be a fun and affordable vintage vehicle that would draw lots of attention.
