Early Classic Broncos continue to be one of the hottest classics on the market with values continuing to rise at a steady pace. The challenge is locating one that not only looks great but also runs and drives great. I have now owned over 50 of these and speak from experience when I tell you that not all of them are a pleasure to drive. Well, this Candy Apple Red is definitely one of the great ones! I recently acquired this beauty from a gentleman in North Carolina who had purchased it from a family friend that owned it for over 10 years. He had actually just bought an uncut Bronco a few months prior that needed a full cosmetic restoration and then learned about this one and after seeing it he scooped it up right away thinking he would let someone else restore the uncut one. His real passion was BMW's and Porsches but like many car enthusiasts he caught the Bronco Fever. Well, after enjoying it for a few months he decided that he was ready to tackle the uncut Bronco project and would let this one go to the next lucky owner so he could add another Porsche or BMW to his garage...maybe you!!? I had actually started to communicate with him about the uncut one but when he sent me a message asking if I would be interested in buying this one from him, I jumped at the opportunity. From what he was told, this '72 Bronco had spent its whole life in North Carolina. The original DSO was Richmond, VA so this makes sense. The folks he bought it from had it for over 10 years and treated this Bronco to a very nice restoration about 8 years ago. The result of the restoration is an absolutely stunning Bronco painted in the original Candy Apple Red color and a complete mechanical overhaul that has this baby running and driving fantastic. I will do my best to provide you with enough large images, a video so you can hear it start up and running and an honest description to help you decide if this beautiful Bronco belongs in your stable. If you decide you want to scoop it up before the next car guy or gal does feel free to call me at 770-359-8400 to discuss how we can make that happen. I welcome overseas buyers and I am also a licensed transport broker and can get you great rates on transport anywhere in the US. Sit back and enjoy!!!
As I mentioned this '72 Bronco received a cosmetic restoration about 8 years ago. So many of these Broncos are being repainted in different colors than their original color but this one still wears its original Candy Apple Red "T" code color as indicated on the data plate tag in the glove box. After all, who can argue with a shiny Red Bronco!!! The overall paint quality is excellent and I had it professionally wet sanded and buffed out and as you will see in the pics it has great luster and reflection. Body panel fit is great and the doors line up nicely which is a common issue on these early Broncos. Although the body and paint are not flawless, it is extremely nice and will no doubt will win plenty of trophies at the local shows! I actually did not notice any real chips in the paint or flaws that stood out however I like to set a realistic expectation and have the buyer be thrilled when it arrives rather than the opposite. If I had to pick the body and paint I would mention that there are a few tiny dings that can be seen on close inspection on the hood and one on the passenger door. If my ding removal guy comes by soon I will see if he can take care of them. The flaws are very minor and overall the Bronco is gorgeous!!! There is no rust or signs of rust along the body at all! Bumpers, and chrome trim and emblems all look great. The grille is painted in silver with the Red FORD letters and looks great. An awesome padded 4 point roll bar was added as well as a new Bestop Soft top. Great set of black bushwacker flares were added around the fenders and accent the red paint very nicely. Glass all looks great and windows roll up and down nicely. I think the walk around photo tour of the body below will show you how nice it is:

The Bestop Soft Top on this Bronco is like new and is really a fantastic top. During the colder months you can leave all of the windows zipped in and the top seals up great. Or, during the warmer months you can zip out some or all of the windows for a great open air feel while still getting enough coverage from the hot sun. Of course you can also remove the top altogether if you want the total open air experience. Here are a few pics with the windows installed.

Complimenting the Candy Apple Red exterior is a completely restored and original style black interior. I personally love the look with the original front and rear seats like this Bronco has versus the aftermarket seats you see in some. Everything inside is new and fresh from the carpet kit, front door panels, rear interior panels, and the Bronco signature sill plates. Front seats have new foam and are extremely comfortable! Seat belts are in place for front and rear passengers. Dash pad looks great and the dash itself is painted in the correct Wimbledon white color and gauges are all crystal clear and everything appears to be functioning correctly. A smaller than stock Grant steering wheel was added which makes handling a bit easier. A nice sounding Clarion AM/FM/CD was neatly mounted in the dash and speakers sit on the rear wheel wells. Weatherstripping was all replaced at time of restoration as well. Wipers work and the original style wiper motor cover is in place across the inside of the windshield. A nice aftermarket center console was added providing some storage and drink holders for front and rear passengers. As you will see, the interior looks basically brand new and will draw the crowds at the local shows and cruise-in events. Check it out:

At this point hopefully you can see how great this Bronco looks but perhaps you are wisely wondering if it runs and drives as good as it looks....ABSOLUTELY!! Pop the big heavy hood and you will find what looks like a stock 302 V8. But, fortunately, it is even better than a stock 302. Before the restoration they decided that the original 302 was getting tired and they wanted something with a little more performance so the decision was made to transplant a 302 V8 HO roller motor from a low mileage 1994 Mustang GT....great decision and one that does not negatively impact the value at all but offers up a bit more horsepower while continuing to be extremely easy to service and get parts for if ever needed. The motor had 41,000 miles on it and was gone through before being dropped in. There has been about 12,000 miles put on the Bronco since the restoration. A Weiand intake and 4bbl Edelbrock carburetor feed the fuel to this roller motor which breathes out a nice set of Hedman Headers and back through the dual flow masters exhaust for a great tone. At the same time a new C-4 Automatic transmission was installed that shifts out great! Steering is also a breeze thanks to an upgraded ultimate power steering system from James Duff. This Bronco has a much better turning radius than a stock Bronco thanks to this system and the suspension lift kit was done right so you do not have any bump steer or wandering issues. It is truly a joy to drive. Lets not forget it is also a breeze to stop in this Bronco thanks to a brand new power front disc brake system from Toms Bronco Parts that was just installed. As you have probably noticed this Red Bronco has a great stance and sits up nicely with a 3 1/2" suspension lift and has dual shocks up front. It rides nice and smooth down the road and looks great with the 15" American Racing Baja wheels wrapped in 33 x 12.5x 15 BFG All Terrain Tires that are close to new. Many times these lifted Broncos can be a handful on the road but this one truly runs, steers and brakes as good as any I have owned. It is also very good on the highway with the stock, original, 3.50 gears in the 9" Ford rear end. You can cruise at highway speeds with no issues. As you will see the engine bay is nicely detailed so you can show it off. There is a short video that follows so you can hear how great it sounds. The undercarriage also looks great with rock solid floorpans and no rust issues. I also have a thick folder full of receipts for much of the work that has been described. If you are wanting a classic Bronco that you can truly drive and enjoy, this is the one!!!!
