Well, if you have been shaking your head yes then this beautiful Presidential Blue '68 Pony Convertible could be the one you have been waiting for!!

I know this particular 1968 Mustang Convertible quite well!! I actually sold this car locally to a great guy a little over 3 years ago and delivered it right to his garage. It was his dream car!!! He moved to Colorado about a year ago and of course took his dream car with him. I actually set up the Enclosed Transport for him. We have stayed in touch and I recently got a call from him and he seemed a bit sad. His busy travel and work schedule has really not allowed him to drive the car as much as he originally hoped he would. This did not bother him nearly as much as it has bothered his sweet wife who also loves the car but would rather have her car in the garage when winter sets in soon in Colorado. He made the difficult decision to let his baby go and asked if I would locate a loving new owner for him. Within a few days the car was loaded on another Enclosed Transporter and headed back to me. When it arrived it looked exactly like it did 3 years ago....simply gorgeous!!! Took it for a nice drive and it drives even better than I remembered. In the 3 years he has owned it he has only put about 750 miles on it!! This is one sweet pony!!!!
Below is the complete story and history along with a large photo tour of the car, a video so you can hear it running, and an honest description to help you decide if this is the Classic Mustang Convertible you have been searching for. I originallypurchased this awesome 1968 Ford Mustang Convertible about 4 years ago from a gentleman in Colorado who had purchased it 6 months prior to that. He was a retired gentleman who had been around the classic car hobby for many years and enjoyed locating great classics as investments. A friend of his told him about this sweet '68 Convertible that a local gentleman had decided to sell. Evidently he was the 2nd owner and had owned the car for over 25 years. Prior to him the car had spent some time in California after the original owner had moved there from the Washington DC area where the car was originally delivered. It was obvious that this car had lived a pampered and garaged life as the body showed no rust and it appeared to have most if not all of its original paint. He was considering doing a restoration himself since the car was so solid and ran so well but instead he decided to just put it on the market after driving it occasionally for the 6 months he owned it. Although we generally buy cars that have already been restored, we do occasionally purchase classics that are extremely well preserved and then treat them to the cosmetic restoration they deserve so that the next lucky owner can thoroughly enjoy the car. We particularly liked the original factory Presidential Blue this car was born with so we kept it in this original color. We had this Mustang Professionally restored inside and out and I believe the next lucky owner is going to be extremely pleased with this beautiful '68 Convertible!!!

As mentioned above, this '68 Mustang Convertible lived a great life and when it originally arrived to us it looked as if most, if not all of the car had its original paint still. Body panels appeared to be all original and were in fantastic condition with the exception of the trunk lid which had a number of tiny dings on it. We decided to replace the trunk lid when we had the car repainted. The body shop we use had very little body work to do before laying out the gorgeous base coat/clear coat paint job. We went with the original X paint code of Presidential Blue which is an awesome and somewhat rare color. They block sanded the body prior to paint and the body is extremely straight and body panel gaps are excellent! The paint looks awesome and as you will see in some of the pics below the reflection in the paint is outstanding. We then installed a factory correct, white C-stripe along the sides of the car which really adds to the look. This '68 has the exterior decor trim which includes rocker panel, trunk, and wheel well chrome trim. All of the chrome, trim, and bumpers look excellent. Windows all roll up and down nicely andglass is in great condition. All of the weatherstripping was replaced with new. The car has now been restored for over 3 years and looks exactly as it did a week after the restoration.....stunning! As you will see, this '68 has an awesome stance with the brand new set of 15" Magnum 500 wheels wrapped in a brand new set of BFG Radial TA tires. This Stang is ready for the local shows and cruise-ins and will surely bring home its share of trophies if that is what you enjoy!! Here is a walk around tour of the body:

We believe these Classic Mustang Convertibles should be driven top down as often as possible but it is always nice to know that this car had a brand new, Power convertible top put on at the time of restoration and still looks close to new.. The white power top operates beautifully and accents the Presidential Blue exterior beautifully. When we had the car painted we had the convertible top frame painted before the top was professionally installed. We also purchased a brand new boot cover for a great finished look when the top is down. Have a look:

Complimenting the breath-taking Presidential Blue exterior is an equally attractive Parchment white interior. When the car arrived to us the interior was parchment white and was in pretty nice shape overall but we decided to treat the next owner with brand new seat covers, new carpeting, new dash pad, new door panels and new rear interior panels. The original door tag shows the car was originally ordered with a black interior but we think you will agree that the parchment looks way better. The center console looks excellent and still has the original factory Am radio mounted. However, there has been an upgraded am/fm/cd player neatly mounted in the glove box for your listening pleasure. All of the gauges, speedometer, and courtesy lights all seem to be working correctly. The original steering wheel shows a bit of Patina with a few cracks that are very common on these wheels. We were going to put a vinyl steering wheel wrap over it but will leave that up to the next lucky owner and I will include a Navy Blue wrap. New door sill plates and a brand new set of Pony floor mats finish out the interior. It is ready for the shows and looks close to factory fresh....take a look:

This '68 drives as good as it looks!! The original C-code 289 V8 2bbl runs like a champ and is quiet as a church mouse. Although we do not have any record of a rebuild to the motor, it is obvious from driving this Mustang that the motor has been extremely well maintained during its pampered life. It pulls strong and cruises at highway speeds with ease. The motor is completely stock and engine bay has been nicely detailed. Power steering makes handling a breeze and suspension is nice and tight. The gentleman who bought it 3 years ago from us upgraded the manual drum brakes to Power Front Disc brakes so that it stops with ease. Brand new set of Magnum 500 wheels and BFG radial tires were put on and have under 1000 miles on them. This Mustang is ready to be driven and enjoyed!! The original C-4 automatic transmission shifts strong and smooth. Original single exhaust with stock manifolds. This Pony is super quiet and an absolute joy to drive. I have added a video at the end of the listing so you can hear it start up and running. Inside of the trunk is rock solid and rust free. Fuel tank was replaced recently. The undercarriage, floorpans and torque boxes are also completely solid and rust free. There was a light factory undercoating applied originally as this was a Metuchen, NJ production car. The undercoating has flaked off in a few spots but we decided to leave it in place as it will continue to protect the floorpans. All of the factory Vin stampings, door plate and engine tag are still in place. Take a look and be sure to listen to the video that follows.
