1968 GT fastback 390 big block and 4 speed and 325 rear gear
I wasn’t going to be selling this car as it was going to be the third of three fastbacks I am building but I just saw (and If you want the comparison auction number I will give it to you) one sell and I figured I should test the waters now.
My car offers the numbers matching MUSTANG only engine with the correct heads meaning you don’t have to use headers or go to the machine shop to have head bolts drilled out, remember mustands and fairlaines (for example) have similar part numbers but the stuff like the heads are different. This car also comes with the correct exhaust manifolds, motor mounts (all 6 pieces).
The original 4 speed transmission with a hurt linkage (sorry that original shifter sucks so it was discarded long ago. My plans were to be to retrofit an original mustang shift handle onto a hurst assembly and then have the best of all worlds.
325 9 inch rear given you even more (if you needed it really) umphh off the line versus the standard 2.80 or 3.00 rear gears and still not the high revs of the 4.11 and taller rear gears, that said I would have a 4.11 ford 9 inch pumpkin that would swap in, that unit is from a 67 shelby so it is not cheap tho, again it is available.
From there the car is a factory optioned GT, PS, PDB, Overhead console, radio optoined car because the doors while they have the Deluxe door panels, they also have the speaker grates and grilles with the lighting. OH YEAH DON’T FORGET DELUXE INTERIOR, EVEN BETTER THE 120 MPH SPEEDO AND 8,000 TACHOMETER. OVERHEAD CONSOLE. AND there may be more options, I know the factory GT wheels are still there, the GT grille too, and did I say Fold down rear seat??
That is all the good and now the SO-SO or bad.
The car needs a restoration and is all apart ( I have everything for the car including glass, wiring, etc etc with the following exceptions.. no windshield, no front fenders and no RS headlight bucket.
I do honestly believe that is all that is missing.
The car, well the car needs the LR quarter finish welding on, in the install process already, finish the 2 full length floor installations (I don’t have the 2 full floor pieces though) and to reinstall the cowel top tank noting the the lower vents which rust out have been repaired.
Just let me know if you would like other photos of the body? Or possibly of the options, but I have given you all the photos I have right now and if you can tell what you are looking at (and I would hope you should) you can tell for example my engine is correct where as that other add I mentioned in the beginning had a comment like similar vintage but not original,, original is original…
551-204-0707 if you would like to give me a call and we could talk.
Thank you.
