1975 Ford F-250 Description

For sale: True survivor 75 F250 4x4 "Highboy" lifelong dry California truck, still wearing the original issue blue plates. Sold new in at Wray Brothers Ford in Van Nuys CA to a TWA airline mechanic who used for camping trips to the desert. He gave it to his son in the 80s, son was planning some performance upgrades and pulled the engine. Shortly afterwards he was paralyzed in a motorcycle accident and never finished it. It was sold to a family friend who also never finished it (but did lose the original 360) and the truck sat for many years under a carport until a buddy in SoCal, who drove by the truck for years, hatched a plan. He and I are both into Ford trucks, and he knew the truck needed to be saved, and also knew that I had a good running, era-correct 360 out of another Highboy. Conspiring to give the truck another lease on life after 32 years of sitting, he bought the truck, and I had it shipped from SoCal to Montana for the engine install and other mechanical work needed to get this time capsule up and running and turning heads again. Period topper shown in some of the pics can be included if desired. Original jack, handle, lug wrench are there and even the original spare is still hanging under the truck. Well equipped truck with Ranger package with two tone paint, PS/PB, super duty "desert" cooling radiator, overload springs, camper rear window and chrome western long arm mirrors, heavy duty charging system, full gauges with low fuel economy warning light. Exterior: All original paint, shines well, thin in a few spots. No rust, never seen salt. Amazing survivor. Original paint inspection stamps visible underhood and inside box. Inside of box is in great shape, best I've seen on a highboy. Straight old truck, a few dings as expected. Front of hood has a crease, as does tailgate above latch (see pics). Very hard to see, but there are some small hail dings on hood, roof and passenger box rail.(see pics) Moldings have some dings, windshield has a crack and needs replaced. Sharp looking truck that will draw admirers everywhere you stop. See linked Photobucket album below for more detail pics.

Interior: All original and in good driver condition. Original seat upholstery has a few tears, but seat is firm and not broken down. Original steering wheel has the typical few cracks. Driver vent window handle is broken off. Most everything works, a few things left to sort. Lights, heater, wipers, horn all working. Gauges all work except fuel gauge. Low fuel economy light works. Parking brake non-op. Period Craig 8-track stereo is not working. Transfer case shift boot is torn but a new one is included. Sitting in this truck is truly a time warp back to 1975.
Mechanical: Starts, runs, and drives out well. I had the truck checked over by a professional mechanic after it's long slumber, I've got $3k in receipts. Some of what was done were new master cylinder, front wheel cylinders, radiator boiled out, fuel tank drained, new reman distributor, plugs, points, etc, new reman power steering control valve ($450), and all new stainless Flowmaster exhaust. 4x4 works great, I ran it in high and low range and also drove up to highway speeds with hubs in. Odometer reads 54k miles, can't say if original, truck feels tight and wear is consistent with a lower mile truck. Era correct replacement engine out of 76 highboy has 80k miles and pulls strong, has no noticeable noise, leaks or smoke. Typical old 4x4 drips, no major leaks. Marti report calls out a front Dana 60, but that info is incorrect as the truck still has it's "born with" big hub heavy duty Dana 44, as was correct for 75 regular cab heavy duty F250 4x4. That equipment is confirmed by the front 3550 GAWR on the door tag. Correct size 9.50-16.5 Tires are in good condition with decent tread and no cracks on original wheels. I've driven the truck 150 miles since getting it up and running, I'm sure it will need further sorting but it really is a solid survivor. Great truck to drive and enjoy while you make it better as you go.
Misc: If you've been following 67-77 Highboy trucks on Ebay lately, prices seem to be following the early Broncos sharply upward. A 77 F250 4x4 went $20k, and a 76 F250 4x4 went $23k just in the last couple weeks. There is NO RESERVE, the truck will sell. Clear California title, original smog pump is not present but as a model year 1975, it's not required.
