Drive Video;
Up for bid from my collection is a beautiful older restoration of a 1928 Ford Model A Leatherback / Blindback sedan. This car had a complete body off professional restoration some years ago from a correct original car to start with and shows very well today because of it. I purchased this from an elderly club member who had it for a while and bought the car right after it was restored. This is a late 1928 car with the date of the build on the firewall still very clear to see of “Nov. 26, 928”. This car has stood up very well and looks very fresh and not a car that has been used up like so many that need work after a period of time.
The paint on this car is just beautiful with no shrinkage or crows feet with a beautiful deep luster that presents like it was just done in the last couple of years. There are only a couple of very minor small spots near the front window pillar at the seam and one at the bottom of the drivers door but nothing to concern with. The quality of this restoration of about twenty years old looks like it was done a couple of years ago and was well maintained and again by me when I bought the car. All the plating is great and the glass as well and the leather roof again presents as new like the rest of the car. The fit is tight and strait on all the doors with no sagging and close like a safe. All the locks work well and work with the key as well and has the pop-out ignition. All your lights that include headlamp, ail & brake lights operate perfect. The dash light works as well and your wiper works perfect. The only item that I will be checking is the interior light as I think the bulb went out as it was working but other than that this car is in perfect working order. This car also has a 6 volt alternator installed for night driving.
The interior is in excellent condition and done to a proper show level and still retains all the original door and lock handles and in the rear are a wonderful pair of period correct carnival glass but vases.
I just did a recent service on the car changing again all the oil and transmission 600 weight grease and also putting fresh antifreeze so you do not have to concern yourself with this. I have also just installed a new battery in the car.
Mechanically the car was all rebuilt when it was restored and was not driven or used up and has about 3,500 miles since then more or less. The car shifts perfect and is nice to drive. The brakes are good and stop well and are good for now for a year or so depending how much you drive and if you wish to do extensive touring you may want to think about doing them in a years time give or take.
The tires are also in good condition with many miles left on them. This car is also very well equipped with all the period accessories that could have been installed at the time which include;
Single side mount spare with cover band
Running board step plates
Stone-gard
Motor-meter with wings
Etched wind wings with beveled glass
Pair of peep mirrors
Period leather trunk with factory luggage rack
Period Carnival Glass Bud Vases
Well there it is, nicer correct example would be hard to find like this and someone will have a really nice car here for years to come. Best of luck to all.
