1970 Ford Mustang Convenience Group Description

1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 428 Super Cobra Jet, 4 Speed, W code-4.30 locking axle, RESTORATION PROJECT. One of 857 SCJ/Drag Packs produced. Marti report - this SCJ is a 1 of 1 by which trim package/wheels ordered. have owned this SCJ for 14 year, BUT 4 years ago, through the 428 registry, I learned this SCJ was produced so early, Sept, 23rd, 1969, Ford did not have the rev limiters available for the assembly lines yet and this SCJ did not come with the rev limiter-RARE. Engine compartment side apron is original with the dimples punched into that side apron, where the rev limiter would mount, had never been drilled, proof - produced without the rev limiter. Complete restoration project. The cover picture shown, is as was when I purchased - 2003. SCJ stripped to bare shell in about 07, was acid dipped and from that point forward has sat in my garage. Engine compartment, only need minor metal repair. Needs EXTENSIVE metal work from firewall back to include partial front frame rails(around foot area), torque boxes, entire front half of floor pan, seat risers, from rear wheel hump back, is typical rot, but not as bad. SEE pictures! Included are believed to be original block stamped with the ’66 427 on the one end, partial VIN in appropriate area, my machinist says it is still at standard bore. Original heads are matching to same month and year casting as block, are 6090-N SCJ heads. All within 3 months of build date. Following are all original parts: SCJ intake, SCJ finned valve covers, SCJ RUG-AZ close ration 4 speed, SCJ exhaust manifolds, SCJ bell housing, SCJ clutch assembly, SCJ fly wheel. Original SCJ lemans connecting rods with arc bolts, very significant-the original 428 “Super” pistons with the “Super” stamped into the sides, the “N” nodular casing (not sure if correct 4.30 is still in casing), 9 inch rear housing, staggered shock plates, original leaf springs, original water pump, oil sump, valves, crank shaft weight, “cookie cutter” counter weight, etc… please review pictures closely. Most of the body components are present, including doors, fenders, no hood, windshield, rear window, side windows, sport mirrors, headlight buckets, lower front valance with original bumper guards, trunk lid, bumpers, rear deck spoiler (not a reproduction). AGAIN-review pictures! Interior is also most there with the exception of the steering wheel missing. Has the original center console. All needs restored. Has dash clock. Also, in excellent condition, the instrument cluster with tach (see picture) original had tree branch speared through it when purchased in 03. Previous owner purchased car with 30,524 miles in 1985, he sold it to me in 2003 with 55,169 (have copy of our title transfer paperwork-his title). AGAIN, review all pictures! When disassembled, I marked steering linkage, leafs, calipers, rotars and just about everything else with left/right, frt/back, etc… Again review the pictures. What you see in pictures is what you get, and also the glass. I also have shelves full of parts, pulleys, brackets, etc… for some of your minor pieces. Is it all there?, No. You will need to get the rest as part of your completion work. Again, what you see in the pictures, is what you get to include and includes, entire front steering linkage, front brake system, leafs, etc. They only gave me 24 pictures so basic stuff not taken. Additional specific pictures can be taken for serious bidders. Marti report and original shipping invoice from Ford to dealership emailed per individual request. This rarity of a SCJ coming up for sale is becoming very uncommon. Zero history bidders or poor rating bidders will be eliminated, all others, 500.00 deposit within 48 hours of close of bid and the balance within 5 days, paid via cash, certified bank check or bank wire transfer (secure system in place to protect both buyer and seller). I reserve the right to end auction at any time, this rare SCJ is also being listed in some publications. Can transport enclosed hauler for a fee/mile. NO RESERVE!
