Summary: This Crown Vic has a 302ci V8 (5.0L) engine with automatic transmission. The car runs okay, has decent power (except uphill, where it can struggle a bit), and the transmission shifts into reverse and drive properly. But the engine (and probably transmission & carburetor) should be rebuilt soon. The power steering system needs to be repaired.

They don't make cars like this anymore! Big car comfort from a bygone era in American automobiles. This is a VERY roomy car, with full-width seats, both front and back. I'm a big guy, six feet tall, and this car is very roomy to me. The trunk is enormous--great for groceries or hauling other things. This is a great project car!
This car passed its 2017 Colorado Emissions, and it's ready to drive!(See Vehicle Inspection Report photo)
You can have a working, street legal car at a very affordable price. This car is such a classic that it turns heads even though it is a beater!
The car is located in Westminster, Colorado near Standley Lake (near 100th & Simms), and you can come take a look in person: just send me a message through ebay here to set up a time between the hours of 10am and 7pm. We can do a short test drive up the street a mile or so with me as a passenger; you will just need to let me take your picture, and let me hold on to your driver's license during the ride. I reserve the right to refuse to allow a test drive, or to stop one in progress, for safety or any other reason.
Pros:
- The car runs reliably as of July 15, 2017 when the above video was made.
- CLEAN TITLE.
- CAR PASSED EMISSIONS IN JANUARY 2017.
- Awesome, stylish retro looks!
- The tires are in good shape, with some nice sporty metallic wheels.
- Roooomy!!!
- The windows all roll down fine (manually).
- The original factory radio works.
- The A/C blows heat great in the winter (but does not blow cold air).
- I replaced the battery a few years ago. It's not brand new but it's pretty new.
- When it rains, there are no leaks.
- I have not had any electrical problems in the few years I've owned this car
- It handles very well (aside from the power steering problem described below.)
- The suspension and alignment seem okay and the car gives a very smooth, responsive ride, (although when I test drove today it while making the youtube video, it seemed like maybe one of the tires might be out of balance. There was just a little wobble at one point.)
- The Chilton and Haynes books for this model/year are included in the sale--a $50 value!
- Two sets of keys (ignition & trunk) and one key for the locking gas cap.
However, the car does have some problems:
- Both the engine and transmission leak from old seals, and will eventually need to be rebuilt. If you're a shade-tree wrench pusher, you can blast some tunes and have some fun, relaxing, old-school weekends working on this car. When we drove it for the video, it was having trouble getting up a hill near our house. It runs okay on the straight and level though.
- The power-steering system leaks and needs to be repaired. When you fill the power steering fluid reservoir, the power steering system works great, but it drains within a day or so, and then the power stops and it's manual-steering, which takes some forearm strength at low speeds. I have a new spare power steering pump, but you will need to buy the two (I think) steel hydraulic lines. I believe I saw new hydro lines online for about $150 or so awhile back. You may have to scrounge junkyards for this and other parts. In the youtube video, you can see the power steering is working: that's because I just filled it before we shot the video.Unless you are a body builder, you will want to get the power steering fixed right away for sure.
- There are several areas of rust on the car (see photos).
- The paint job has cracked, flecked, and chippedall over the car, and the car needs to be repainted. When I bought the car seven years ago, the previous owner had given it a very cheap white paint job over the original paint.
- The interior is old, faded, beat up, worn and dusty, but when you sit in it, it doesn't look too bad for it's age. At this price, you're not going to get a new interior, let's face it.
- The transmission shift indicator does not line up properly with drive, neutral and reverse, so you have to move it by feel. The transmission works, but the gear indicator on the instrument panel doesn't line up properly with R/N/D etc.
- I am not the original owner of the car, and I have no idea if the odometer is accurate. The emissions form says 2658 (from January), the odometer itself says 2667 (now in July) and the Title says 0 (from August of 2010). The car is over 30 years old, and the odometer only goes up to 99,999. The dealer's bill of sale said the odometer reading was "Exempt" when I bought the car. Basically, you are getting a car with a major amount of miles on it.
- Battery hold down strap is broken and needs to be replaced.
- Air conditioner does not work.
I only drove this car a few times a month in the seven years that I've owned it. If you only plan to drive it occasionally, it would probably run fine for you for quite awhile, but if you need a daily driver, you'll want to fix it up.
If you can't pay, DON'T BID. If you win the auction and then try to haggle with me in person after the auction is over, YOU WILL NOT GET THE CAR AND I WILL REPORT YOU TO EBAY. We're both busy people, so no silly games, please.
