1976 Ford Bronco Description

History
  • I purchased in Oct 1998 and spent until about 2002 doing a ground up/off the frame restoration. It was originally red body with a white top. The tub came off the frame and everything was blasted. Garage kept the entire time even now.
  • No hard off roading...only a few dirt roads.
  • All the recent work mentioned below was done by a licensed mechanic at a shop in 2017.
Engine
  • Stock 302 V8 rebuilt with currently about 2K miles. Recently the radiator, water pump and thermostat has been replaced. The temp hovers around 190 F.
  • HTC headers with dual exhaust all the way to the back and out each side so not exhaust smell in the cab.
  • Catalytic converters. The state/county I live in do emissions testing and it just recently passed. The carburetor does need be tweaked in order to pass.
  • New wiring harness. I put the original back in it at first then towards the end of the restoration I got a new wiring harness then extended it for things like the fog lights, sunroof, the dome lights and extra battery etc.
Fuel System
  • Carburetor recently rebuilt. It takes a few pumps of the gas pedal to start. It idols high for a minute then one gas pedal pump to get it lower the idol RPMs.
  • Fuel filter recently replaced. Fuel lines recently flushed out. Fuel switch recently replaced.
  • Rear gas tank recently replaced. Front gas tank recently cleaned. Both sending units recently replaced.
  • Rear tank holds about 11 gallons and front holds about 9 gallons. Switch on dash to switch between them.
Drive Train
  • Entire drive train was sand blasted and painted black.
  • 4WD with locking hubs on the front. Sorry no push button 4WD...lol
  • The suspension is stock height. It could stand to be lifted 2-4inches so front tires won't rub fenders when turning sharply.
  • Disc brakes on the front. Drum brakes on the back recently rebuilt.
  • Stock transmission was rebuilt. 3-speed on the column.
  • Stock transfer case was rebuilt.
  • Stock rear chunk and axle
  • Stock drive shafts were rebuilt.
  • Power steering
  • The steering box was rebuilt and it drives straight. Less than an inch of play in the steering wheel.
  • There is a place on the driver's side for a second battery which is used to power the winch.
  • The tires sizes are 33x12.50
Body
  • Originally red body and white top. Now steel blue a 2000 BMW Z8 color inside and out.
  • The paint is not perfect but good. There are small bubbles in the hood and crack in the rocker panels in the threshold part.
  • The tub was taken off frame, blasted and underside was sprayed with a rubber undercoating.
  • The only rust was in the door posts and rocker panels. These were completely replaced.
  • The front and rear bumper are from jamesduff.com and has two fog lamps mounted. Only one works right now. It just needs a bulb.
  • The front bumper has a 6000lb Warn winch with cable. There is also an outlet where you can plug in an extension cord with two button controller to control the winch from outside the cab from a distance if needed.
  • A second battery is used to power the winch and solenoids to control the direction of the winch are under the hood.
  • The rear bumper is from jamesduff.com as well which holds a full size spare wheel and tire. It also has a receiver. Also a hi-lift.com style jack is included.
  • A luggage rack that goes in the receiver is included as well. Unfortunately you have to take the spare tire off to use.
  • All head lights, side markers, backup lights and brake lights work. High/Low beam switch is on the floor.
  • The hood is held open with modern shocks as well as the rear hatch.
  • All glass is tinted. The back glass is the darker SUV privacy tinting.
  • Sunroof is not working it needs a motor but is sealed up good.
  • All new rubber seals around the glass and the doors.
  • The only time I have had the top off was during the restoration.
Interior
  • The door arm rests are new.
  • The door panels are diamond plate I made myself.
  • The dash is a diamond plate replica of the original. I had this custom made to handle the modern tweaks. No place for a radio. No more glove box.
  • The round ports in the dash are AC vents that are adjustable and directional. They are air craft vents.
  • Heat and AC system from vintageair.com. AC recently recharged and working good. Floor vents, 4 dash vents and defrost vents for the windshield.
  • Instrument cluster from dakotadigital.com just like the old instruments but digital. It shows fuel, oil pressure, volts, water temp, RPMs, MPH and mileage. It even has a trip odometer. The fuel gauge will show which ever tank is selected.
  • The buttons on the dash are marine switches and some are multi-position with LED lights for example the head light switch.
  • Push the head light switch once and the parking lights come on. Push is all the way and the head lights come on.
  • One button controls the which fuel tank the gas is coming from and which fuel level to show on the digital gauge.
  • One button is a rocker switch to control the winch from inside either cable in or cable out.
  • One button controls which battery to use when starting.
  • The round knob above the key switch is the wiper blade switch.
  • The two knobs to the right control the blower fan, AC level and the heat.
  • One button is for the sunroof.
  • One button is for future use.
  • The button panel can be pulled out without taking the dash out.
  • The front seats are from a late 90s Mitsubishi Eclipse. They are adjustable forward and backwards. There is also a lumbar support adjustment.
  • The rear seat is the original bench seat but reupholstered to match the front.
  • 3-point seat belts in the front and original lap belts in the back.
  • Black carpet throughout.
  • 4-point roll cage. One bar overhead.
  • Diamond plate toolbox included.
  • Dome lights in the front and back. Can be set to always on, door activated or always off.
Title
  • The title is clear. It recently passed emissions and I just retagged it.
  • ...and it drives good.
