A timeless American classic, the 1955 Ford Thunderbird was unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show on February 20, 1954. Rare for domestic auto-builders of the time, the Thunderbird was a sporty two-seater convertible and brought both the persona of luxury tourer and sports car. It was so popular that 3,500 orders were placed within the first 10 days of sale with 16,155 sold in this first model year.
