The second-generation Thunderbird is arguably the most distinctive of the bunch. So when you can find a rare convertible that has received the right care, has proper 352 V8 power, and has cool extras like a matching convertible boot, then you know you this 1960 Ford Thunderbird is a true cut-above classic - and it's all at a very nice price.
We love the way this 1960-correct Yellow looks on this droptop. It was a professional application later in life, and so you get extra gloss and shine when you take this convertible out for a sunny day cruise. These second-generation cars are affectionately called "Squarebirds" because of the sharp angels, but the intricate lines of the wraparound chrome bumpers front and rear reveal there was a lot more going on with this design than its predecessor. There are bright details abound on the T-birds, including the little ornaments atop each front fender, the Thunderbird script on the rocket-shaped body side moldings, and the chrome grilles on the rear panels - all of which are great reminders of the new jet age. And of course, we all love the wire wheels with the iconic whitewalls. All of this is key to this convertible's outstanding presence today, but there is one extra piece that will keep this one always drawing in the crowds.
Inside the two-tone on the beautifully finished buckets and door panels have a Lincoln-level of execution. And the whole interior flows seamlessly from the gorgeous cockpit-style dash through the center console. So there's plenty of room in back for full-sized adults, you'll be just as happy cruising solo in Ford's personal luxury machine. In fact, you get white-faced instruments are fitted into a shiny aluminum panel that looks like a high-end clock face. Plus, the power adjusting bucket seat, power windows, and power folding roof make this a total luxury cruiser you control from the comfort of the driver's seat.
Flip up the sporty clam shell hood to reveal a nicely detailed engine bay that has a Yosemite Yellow air topper painted to match the fender walls. And the mirror-like valve covers are always a nice touch. But more than just look good, the 352 cubic-inch V8 is part of the debut of Ford's power FE motor program. Topped with a four-barrel carburetor, the V8 has all the right power to properly move this drop top. On the road, the dual exhaust gives a hint at the horsepower under the hood, but the T-bird never loses its composure. It floats down the boulevard like a true vintage luxury convertible should. This is aided by the right features such as the C4 four-speed automatic transmission, power brakes, and power steering. This car is all original except the wire rims (original rims and hub caps will be included). The C4 transmission was a straight bolt in no modifications were needed.
