1950 Ford Other Pickups Description
1950 Ford F1Short bed / Step side
Up for your consideration is my 1950 F1. As you can see from the pictures this old girl is oozing with amazing "patina"! No paint shop could replicate this cool rendering by mother nature and time.
This truck was on the road just a couple of years ago. As you can see from the photos a lot of work has been done to the truck. The previous owner was in the process of converting it to 12V when he became distracted with his home improvement project ... that's when I bought it. Everything is still there to keep it on the 6V system if the new owner chooses to do so. The wiring will definately need to be freshened up though, or continue to switch it out with new 12V system. My mechanic was able to reconnect enough wiring to get the engine started confirming that the engine is in good running order. It will need a battery and wiring attention to make it drivable.
Overall, the truck is really, really solid with very little rust to speak of. As seen in the photos the floor is in perfect shape with a fresh coat of LineX spray on bedliner to keep it that way. The bench seat is in perfect shape and was recently professionally recovered (not a cheap slip on). The dash is all there and in great shape as well as the gauges (I can't confirm whether they work or not, but they're there).
All glass and rubber gaskets (windshield, rear window, both doors, and both vent windows) are all new and in perfect shape.
So far as I know, and from what I'm told, the Ford 239 CID V8 Flathead engine is original to the truck along with the manual transmission and rear-end. The engine ran smooth with no knocking or smoking when my mechanic got it started. The clutch engages as it should and moves through all gears. The fuel tank is new as well (see picture).
The "patina" on this truck is amazing. That's what drew me to this truck in the first place. I smoothed off any flaking paint with a scotchbrite pad and applied a thin coat of clear to seal in the colors and give it a little sheen. The body is definately solid enough to be worthy of a full restoration and repaint, but I think it'd be a shame to cover up the look it's currently wearing. I've seen body shops try to replicate natural patina finishes and they never come out looking this good.
Tires are in new condition and the wheels are freshly painted with NOS Ford center moon caps.
Housekeeping:Please ask all questions, have funds in place, and permission (if needed, haha) BEFORE bidding. It takes a lot of time and money to list on ebay and I don't want to waste my, or anyone elses, time. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer, but I'm willing to help on my end to make sure all goes well with your transport at pick up time. Truck is being sold as is with no warranty expressed or implied. I'm not a dealer. I've described the vehicle as straight forwardly as I can. To serious bidders, if you want to see anything that isn't pictured I'm happy to take additional photos of what you'd like to see and email them to yo, just ask. I'm willing to discuss the truck on the phone with serious buyers, simply email me your phone number and I will call you. I'll consider ending the aution early if you would like to make an offer that's good for both of us. Good Luck !!
