1970 Ford Torino GT Convertible 302 Survivor Barn Find Buckets Console Factory
1970 Ford Torino convertible Description
Up for auction is a barn find 1970 Ford Torino GT Convertible. This car has been with the same owner since 1985. This car is mostly complete, and is a nice foundation for a restoration. This car does run and move, actually it runs pretty well. The car has a pretty nice body with some topical issues but has mostly surface rust. This is an F code car, which means it was an original 302. This car cam from the factory with power steering (works well), power brakes, and factory air (missing compressor) The underside has had some panels cut out and replaced with some sheetmetal, and the job wasn't professional by any means. The rocker panels are really good, clean pinch welds along the bottom side. The frame seems to be solid also, just surface rusting. The doors are solid, there is some crust on the bottom corner of the driver door. The doors do shut well, and they have good gaps. The windows roll up and down nicely. Behind the rear wheels where the 1/4 meets the inner fender has rot in the corner. The trunk appears to be pretty solid. The interior is very complete with some aftermarket covering on the upholstery and the door panels. Certainly not original but they look OK. The car has optional bucket seats with the center console which is nice. I have not tried the power top so I'm not sure if it works. The headlights do function, are a little slow opening but close pretty quick. The taillights work too. The car runs smooth, smokes a little bit but I think it was fuel additive burning off from pre storage treatment. The car will drive around and will make loading easy however the brake pedal is to the floor. The gear shifter goes through the gears good but I have not driven it out of first gear. Be prepared to replace sheetmetal, rust repair, etc… this is a running and driving project car!
