1938 Ford UTE 81A Description

1938 Ford Australian Utility (UTE). The UTE is unique to Australia. As far as I know there are only 3 of the ’38 Models in the US. I found this one in Canada. The chassis were built in Canada and exported to Australia where the bodies were built and the final assembly was done.

This is a restoration in progress and is a Right Hand Drive.

Included:

  • A clear New Mexico title in my name with the Canadian VIN
  • A new 21 stud engine (From Dennis Carpenter reproductions) It is my understanding that these engine are new but due to long term storage issues they had to be reworked. The over/under sizes are listed on the tag shown in the photo
  • The correct aluminum “Made in Canada” heads (2)
  • US made iron heads for spares (2) and one (1) US made aluminum head
  • Used intake manifolds (2) aluminum
  • Carburetors new rebuilt or rebuilt slightly used (2)
  • Water Pumps new reproduction (2)
  • Rebuilt oil pumps (2)
  • Rebuilt Starter and new starter drive & 1 used starter
  • Clutch pressure plate and disk. New or re-manufactured
  • Used fly wheel with pressure plate
  • Some gaskets
  • LHD dome muffler - slight modification for RHD
  • The original frame (unusable), with the Canadian VIN (You will need this for the VIN number) Includes the transmission and rear axle (last photo)

  • Correct shocks including the correct front Canadian links. I also have the rears but thy are too long and will need to be shortened 1/4-3/8 inch on each end. Also, if you want, I have the tooling I used to reproduce these.
