Clean and solid old ford. This was owned by the same gentleman from 1976-2017. He was a veterinarian and rancher. It's a good truck for restoration or use it as-is. Below are all the details on the Ford. I do have many more pics I can send also. Email me if your interested in doing something early on it.
I was told the truck has a 390. It most likely had a 360 new but many people rebuilt or upgraded to the 390 engine. If anyone cares if it is number matching, I can check it out. It is definitely an FE block engine. 2-barrel. The engine runs smooth and quiet and doesn't knock. Good oil pressure. Does not overheat. No water in the oil or oil in the water. The 4-speed transmission and clutch work as they should. The brakes, lights, wipers, heater, and speedometer work. Dual exhaust. The 4x4 works but I did not drive it on the highway in 4x4. Sometimes they need from u-joints but you can't tell unless it's in 4x4. I didn't notice anything abnormally loose. It drives nice besides that. The tires in the pics are not on it now. The brakes work fine. Power brakes, steering and AC. The ac is disconnected and will need a compressor and charged. Maybe other work but I'm not sure. In Montana, they are unhooked alot due to the compressor being bad or lost charge. It gets hot here in the summer but it's normal for people to not care about A/C lol. Especially older people. My first rig was a '67 ford 4x4. I didn't have a car with air for years lol. I'm sure it's fixable on this ford. This truck will need very little besides tires to drive it every day. I'd change the fluids and do a tuneup on it but it really doesn't need it. I'd just do it so I knew when the plugs/wires etc. had all been changed.
BODY
The body on the truck is not perfect but pretty straight and solid. The previous owner painted it himself at one point. It may have looked good at one time but it needs paint now. He also "touched" up a couple spots with spray paint. It would look better if that was cleaned off lol. This truck is not a babied, garage queen. The previous owner took care of it, but he used it and it's 42 years old. The body is really better than it looks. It has some rust, but not bad and not much, especially for a 1973-1979 ford. Here is the rundown on the rust: The truck has slight rust on each side, where your feet sit. Easy to repair for using, or easy to repair for a restoration. Usable as-is. There is a rust spot on each side, behind the rear wheel, way back by the bumper. The only other rust on the truck is the bed floor. The original owner put a bedliner in it. These keep water from escaping and causes the bed floor to rust. The supports are fine. it will need sections of the bed floor replaced. Maybe easier to do it all. This is a fairly easy job, as far as bodywork goes. The sections are available new and not expensive. I could potentially include a factory floor piece but I'd have to check the donor truck to make sure it's worth using. The tailgate is fine. Drivers door has a fixable dent. The cab corners, mounts, supports, etc. are nice. The cab is nice overall except for the minor floor rust. The hood is ok. Doors, hood, and tailgate work as they should. All glass in good shape. The only bondo spots I've seen are in the rust behind the wheels and a spot on the hood. This truck was painted a long time ago and any filler worth mentioning is probably cracking/showing. I have a digital paint depth gauge also. Overall, the body isn't perfect but it isn't real bad for a '76 and has little rust.
INTERIOR
The interior has the usual wear and damage for an un-restored '76. Pictures tell the story. Dash is cracked but usable. Carpet is original and has wear. Doorpanels and headliner have wear. Seat has wear/rips on the drivers seat area. It's comfortable though and springs are not bad. I don't think I tried the stereo. Heater, gauges, wipers, lights work.
OVERALL
This is a solid ford for restoration, or puy tires on it and drive it as-is. The '73-'79 fords are very popular models, and tons of restoration parts are available. Basically anything you would need. Thanks and happy bidding. Sold as-is.
