'29 Ford Model A Roadster Pickup Hot Rod Rat Rod 28 30 31 Coupe RPU Traditional
1929 Ford Model A Pickup Description
1929 Ford Model A Pickup,
Cool old Hot rod from the 60's I was told it used to be in the northwest with a B motor in it. The top is hand made from sheet steel but is very nicely contoured to look like canvas in a Carson top style(removable but not collapsible) The body is steel with fiberglass doors that actually shut very nicely. The body is sort of rough, not rust at all just not finished to a high standard.
The rear-end is a ford 9 inch with an adapter to a Chevy 10 bolt cover (I would bet it had one of those fake quick change covers at one time) it is hung with a 4 bar and a transverse leaf spring(would be easy to install a 40's banjo rear-end for a period correct look......Please do this if you buy it ;).....)
The transmission is a ford C3 slushbox with a lokar style shifter(I haven't looked to see if it is actually lokar but it looks right.)
The engine is a 2.3 liter Turbo motor from an early eighties Mustang. The pull threw carb Style intake, Carb and Turbo go with the car and would add a bunch of power if installed. I haven't tried it but it looks pretty doable. In those years the 2.3 Turbo had more power than the 302 V8's had.
The Front-end consists of a un-dropped Model A Axle and split wishbones, controlled by a Vega style cross steer system. It has Hydraulic lever shocks up front as well as chromed 40 Ford Juice Brakes.
The brake master is under the floor mounted and is from a early 70's Mustang. When I picked up the truck recently I put new Wheel Cylinders in all four corners as well as a new brake master cylinder.
This little pickup is a ton of fun out on the highway, drives really pretty good for what it is, definitely not one of those white knuckle drivers. You can drive one hand on the wheels and sing to the under seat mounted radio with 4 speakers(two covered with re-pop movie theater speaker covers)
The Vinyl is stitched diamond pleating and has a spot under the driver where it split from use. overall the interior has a great traditional feel to it. The windshield flips out as it should, and the gas tank is still in the cowl. There is a working speedometer that is column mounted.Let me know if there are any other pictures you would like texted to you so you can feel confident in your purchase. This is a really cool little driver I have been enjoying it a bunch.
