1916 Ford Model T Truck Description

This 1916 Ford Model T Truck is in absolutely excellent condition. With a couple turns of the crank start the vehicle will start. It has the classic Model T muffler sound. The engine has not been cleaned for a few years and could use some WD-40 and a good scrub. It will make the car sound much better and will fix the occasional stall from grime build up. Within a couple of hours the car will sound good as the day it rolled off the lot in 1916! All parts to the are ORIGINAL to the 1916 Model T. Some of the parts needed to be replaced but were purchased from a certified Ford dealer that were original to the 1916 Model T. The parts dealer assured me the parts were 100% authentic to keep the originalityof the vehicle.

Unlike many other Model T's for sale this vehicle came equipped with authentic mahogany wood on the frame of the bed, the steering wheel, and the spokes of the wheels. The wood has been kept in beautiful condition. There are mild scratches due to the age of the car, but the wood has no water or sun damage and glimmers beautifully in the sun. The steering wheel is in slightly rougher shape than the other wood, but no major damage (chunks missing, etc..). It does have my fathers initials engraved into it. The truck bed has had no modifications done to it (unlike other models) but can be altered if you choose because it is the original.

The metal frame to the car is in excellent condition. No major scratches or dents and is extremely sturdy when I stand on it. It has small, mild rust spots that only go on the outside of the frame. I took a picture of one of them to emulate what they look like around the rest of the car. They could easily be cleaned and re-detailed to give the car a cleaner look. I did not want to do it myself in case of thwarting the antique style of the vehicle. The gas tank is mounted in the bed of the truck and is also a black metal. The tank has medium rust on it, but could also be restored relatively easily.

The undercarriage to the car is also in superb condition. There are mild rust spots, but only to the paint (which is also black). There is no major rust damage to the frame that threatens the integrity of the vehicle. All the of small rust/paint damage can be restored without having to replace any parts or threaten the authenticity of the car.

All of the driving levers (brake, gas, etc..) or in excellent condition. It has the original folding windshield, and has a cool little box mounted on the dash to store items.

The engine front, wind shield frame and hub cap covers are all ORIGINAL BRASS. The patina can be easily washed away with a little bit of vinegar. No major rust or sun damage.

All of the lights work, but the car will probably need a new battery.

The title is clean and in my name. It can be easily transferred. I have photos of the receipts for each of the parts that were replaced.I can send a photo of the title and/or the receipts at your request.

The car was originally my fathers which he used for parades. It will his pride and joy, and he kept excellent care of the car. He made sure to keep the original authenticity of the vehicle. He passed away a few years ago, and I no longer have room in the my garage to store it. As previously mentioned, the vehicle could use some cleaning and fine tuning because I have not kept up with the mild maintenance. My garage is a dry, smoke free environment where the vehicle was kept out of the sun/rain for any extended period of time. I hope the next owner of the car will cherish and maintain the vehicle as well as my father.

History of the car:

The Ford Model T (colloquially known as the Tin Lizzie, Leaping Lena, or flivver) is an automobile produced by Ford Motor Company from October 1, 1908, to May 26, 1927.It is generally regarded as the first affordable automobile, the car that opened travel to the common middle-class American; some of this was because of Ford's efficient fabrication, including assembly line production instead of individual hand crafting.

The Ford Model T was named the most influential car of the 20th century in the 1999 Car of the Century competition, ahead of the BMC Mini, Citroën DS, and Volkswagen Type 1. Ford's Model T was successful not only because it provided inexpensive transportation on a massive scale, but also because the car signified innovation for the rising middle class and became a powerful symbol of America's age of modernization. With 16.5 million sold it stands eighth on the top ten list of most sold cars of all time as of 2012.
