Think you’ve seen enough fastbacks, Machs & convertible Mustangs lately…..? If you answered yes…. here’s an incredible pony that must be considered!

Up for sale & “just in time for spring” is this absolutely gorgeous / unique 1969 Grande custom!

There is a lot that can be said about this classic Ford but I will try my best to be brief in regards to its description and history.

1969 was a banner year for the Ford Mustang. There was a fury of models unleashed on the muscle car world.

That being said there was also a loud outcry for some in the consumer arena who wanted a vehicle that could display luxury, comfort & performance “enter the Grande Mustang”!

The upscale car that you see pictured here is one such model but, presented with a twist!

This rare Mustang happens to be a two owner vehicle. The original owner purchased it from Dave Brown Ford in Guttenberg Iowa.

As fate would have it he had grown weary of his modest 1962 Falcon. By all accounts he desired a car with a little more power & character!

After finally building enough courage to act on his impulse he wandered into the Dealership ordered this Grande.

He was a banker by trade & really enjoyed driving this car exclusively to Florida over the first few years.

It remained in his possession and in Iowa until the fall of 1999.

He would still periodically take it in for service at the local Ford dealer until he relinquished ownership.

Nevertheless the second owner acquired the Grande from him in 2001 and slowly began to restore it.

I would like to say that this Mustang truly drives, feels & performs like a limited ownership vehicle! There is a distinct difference from most 47 year old cars right out of the gate!

At any rate I happen to run across this amazing Mustang by aid of a friend who found it in a classified section of a small town news paper.

He ventured out to see it & immediately contacted me raving about his incredible find!

It seemed that the second owner was forced to put the vehicle up for sale shortly after restoring the Mustang due to other financial obligations in 2013.

At the end of the day my associates plate was also fiscally full so I was giving the opportunity to step in “after doing so I happily purchased it”!

I am pleased to say it only took a millisecond to appreciate the cars beauty & overall integrity!

One of the first things that I will say about this Mustang is that she bares a truly amazing Navy Blue Metallic finish!

This vintage Ford has only been painted once outside of its original covering. The factory lacquer paint staked its claim on the body panels until a short time ago.

Although the factory paint continued to hold up exponentially through the years this pony was given a serious makeover in 2013.

The vehicle was prepped for paint at Custom Finish Auto Body in Des Moines. There was very little body work needed (garaged its entire life) but the shop still decided to aim for perfection!

There is no doubt that the base / clear method was used to administer the paint to the body.

The contour & quality of the entire vehicles body is respectable and uniform. The body lines are true and door gaps are in step with the era’s production assembly specifications.

It is literally impossible to drive this pony a single block without receiving much fan fare!

People from everywhere constantly compliment you and wave as you pass by.

If you are not the type who enjoys making new friends “this may not be the vehicle for you”!

The paint almost looks wet in direct sunlight & the car easily maintains a high gloss shine!

You certainly will have no problem holding your head high at the local car shows and cruise inns!

This Mustang has several attributes that help make it a very desirable vehicle.

It’s impossible to miss the bull dog aggressive look the car has thanks in part to its Mach 1 style hood scoop “Talk about nostalgia”!

An aggressive set of 60’s style sport side mirrors announces that this Mustang is ready for action & a hint that there’s no 6 cylinder under the hood!

From front to rear this Mustang covers all the bases! There’s an excellent chrome laden gas cap attached between the tail lights & a full flavored restored pony grille emblem situated close to the drivers head light! This Mustang looks terrific from all angles and also reminds folks of the good ole days on route 66.

Keeping things interesting in the beauty department are a nice set of factory chrome bumpers & great stainless trim throughout!

Both front & back windshield are in superior condition!

1969 Mustangs were plagued with the problem of having the door glass fall of track consistently because they were installed with adhesive from the factory.

Well…..you have nothing to worry about here. These windows have been removed, sealed and reinforced.

The quarter ornaments on this Mustang also look amazing (no pitting, rust or damage)!

The Blue & Chromecontrast works well on this pony car and everyone seems to take notice.

Again this Mustang is ready for any venue

SHOW OR GO!!!

Now that we have talked about this incredible Mustangs exterior lets discuss what she has to offer inside.

Upon opening the door of this pony you will find a very inviting Deluxe luxury interior!

The Grande Mustang set the tone for other manufactures in 1969 when it came to interior!

Starting with the optional hopsack cloth deluxe seat upholstery you will find it easy to fall in love with this Blue Oval once you sit inside!

The majority of Grande models seat upholstery consisted of the highly used knitted material

(the hop sack cloth cost a bit more).

The Raven black seats look stunning in the vehicle and happen to be in excellent condition!

They are still wonderfully adorned with the highly desirable custom cast trim buttons!

Quite a few Grande models have these unique seats “yet these all important signifying pieces are missing”!

However they are a distinct part of the Grande’s identity and should be deemed valuable!

These seats were restored in 2015 by Elite Auto Upholstery. Before they were reconfigured new padding was added for extra comfort and support! The back seats were also included in the restoration process!

You will find yourself looking for an excuse to head out to the garage just to wipe it down and keep it preserved.

Driving this pony for hours on in is a sheer pleasure!

You will notice a definite difference the moment you begin your excursion!

There were no short cuts taken when the restoration process was in play. Many enthusiast tend to just install a dash cap when refurbishing the interior (which is incorrect) “no worries here all of the hard work has been done for you”!

A new dash pad was installed when the interior was restored “it’s in excellent condition”!

The upholstery shop went the extra mile to make sure that this rare pony received treatment worthy of its heritage.

This Blue Oval still has its original deluxe door panels & both of them happen to be in great condition!

You can also expect to find the carpet to be very presentable! Making its presence known in this Mustang is an absolutely perfect Hip Hugger Console! This console is not only beautiful “it’s incredibly convenient!

Placed underneath your feet will be yet another item that screams out “I LOVE MY MUSTANG”!!! This beauty has been afforded a new set of embossed pony car floor mats!

The inner quarter upholstery has stood the test of time in this Mustang & the packing tray also looks fantastic!

Here is an extra treat that is truly coveted among collectors & super rare in a limited amount of classic Mustangs!

This special feature is the all encompassing Rim Blow Steering wheel! This feature was only available in the best of Fords high line models!

Yes….this one actually works!!!

The Rim Blow wheel (which is activated by squeezing the steering wheel / the horn sounds) is almost impossible to find functioning in cars that came equipped with it!

Unbelievably there are cloned Grande models on the market with standard steering wheels attached in the cockpit area. If you are looking for a true collector car and this all important piece is missing check the vehicles authenticity!

Again this vehicle shows all the traits of being well preserved and meticulously maintained!

Looking for more Mustang Nostalgia…..feast your eyes on the original working Philco Ford radio!

Looking up above you will find a near perfect headliner with a working dome light!

What would a Grande Mustang be without the hallmark elegant wood grain clock? True Ford fans don’t want to know….. so you don’t have to worry this pony has a flawless one sunken inside the front fascia!

All of the interior lights are still shining bright & the dash gauges illuminate properly!

How many classic Mustangs do you find with these subtle accommodations that are actually still functional?

All & all the interior of this Mustang is in amazing condition!

This is truly an incredible car that is ready to be enjoyed!

This one really takes you back to 1969 each & every time you climb behind the wheel!

Something else that shouldn’t be overlooked easily is the trunk of this pony car! This Mustang has a very nice molded trunk mat that looks fantastic!

The trunk rails and inner quarters are rock solid (Must See)!

Now that I have given several reasons why you should love this Ford…… I will talk about yet why a few Chevy guys hate it!

No Mustang can truly be considered a muscle car without having a factory V/8!

The heart and soul of this horse is its STOUT factory 302 engine. The factory engine block was rebuilt in two years ago!

THIS PONY RUNS STRONG!!!!

The motor has plenty of giddy up and is ready for the open road!

This Mustang will simply push you back in the seat if you open the throttle!

Although the car is very user friendly ….it is always nice to have the power on tap (if Needed).

She turns over with just a flick of the key at the slightest touch!

You simply have to drive this one to appreciate it.

LET’S LISTEN TO HER RUMBLE!!!

The oncoming crowd will not only see you coming they will hear you!

This classic Ford Mustang has an awesome chambered exhaust system!

The exhaust system is basically brand new & Flow Master performance mufflers keep this one singing a sweet note!

I absolutely love hitting the freeway in this Mustang! It never seems to want to return to the garage!

The car just hums along without issue for hours at a time without issue! This one almost has a modern feel to it when considering how well she handles. Whenever you reach your point of destination she leaves you begging for more!

There is a fairly new radiator installed that helps keep it cool under the hood also!

Preventative maintenance has not been overlooked either.

The engine has a host of new components installed on it recently! There are too many to count but here’s a short list: plugs, wires, cap, rotor, water pump, thermostat, gaskets, seals, fuel pump, oil sending unit, alternator, battery, hoses, belts, starter, etc!

Presented in old Ford Blue and still looking super sharp under the hood are the original valve covers & air cleaner!

This vehicle still has all of the watermark decals & thumb prints that she came with from the factory on the motor!

A car like this only comes around every so often.

If you have been looking for a classic Mustang that you can enjoy without issue “look no further”!

The car has had the brake system totally gone through.

Here you have the total package. A classic Ford Mustang that sounds & looks incredible!

But that’s not all……To top things off there is a excellent set flawless 17 inch Torque Thrust style Rally wheels!!! This Classic pony “stops traffic”!

This Mustang also has a set of brand new Sumo Performance radials at all four corners! The tires don’t have 70 miles on them so this Mustang is ready for years on trouble free performance!

Finally I would like to say that the Mustang Grande model has quickly become very collectable! The price point in some cases was actually higher than the Mach 1 from the factory! All true Grande models came equipped with a rim blow steering wheel, Grande badges, sport mirrors, sound deadening insulation and other subtle details.
