For sale: 1969 Ford F-250 4x4 "Highboy" with vintage Gem Top canopy, same owner for 43 years (1975-2018). Sold new and lived in dry central Montana, never seen salt. I purchased this truck from the 2nd long term owner earlier this year. He's an older guy that used the truck occasionally for ranch work and plowing snow. Approximately 10 years ago, he upgraded the engine to a rebuilt 390 done by a local shop and also upgraded the front end to a 1976 Highboy disc brake heavy duty "big hub" D44 with power steering. It's only traveled a couple of thousand miles since that work was done. Nice, tight, functional rig that's been in use and not sitting fallow in a field. Doors close with one finger. Gem Top "green shade" topper is included. The truck was originally blue per the door tag and Marti report, but was already repainted white when the 2nd owner bought it with 30k miles in 1975. Frame and door tag numbers all match. Truck looks good from 20 feet, but will need paint to be nice. Good solid rig that hasn't been wheeled, mudded or hooned. Still has the original jack, handle and lug wrench. I'll do my best to describe it below, please read the entire ad and see the linked Photobucket album for 70 more detail pics including underside. Exterior: Looks good from 20 feet, but needs paint to be nice. Again THIS TRUCK NEEDS PAINT if you want it nice. Much of the truck was touched up with spray paint over the years. Body is very tight and both doors close easily with one finger. Very little rust, this is an arid part of the west and roads are not salted. Some surface rust here and there with only rust thru I can see are a few small blisters on bottom edge of driver door and back of cab on passenger side. Underside looks good with the only rust thru on bottoms of the cab drop-offs. There were two quarter sized rust holes in each sill where door seal leaked and water puddled, I treated those with Metal Ready and POR-15 patch to stabilize it. See linked Photobucket album for 60 more pics. Pretty straight truck with dent along bottom of passenger door and dings in the hood and tailgate. The truck was originally blue per the door tag and Marti report, but early on(before 2nd owner bought it in '75) had been repainted white. Front clip has been replaced, box appears original with blue paint visible in a few spots, not sure about cab but all numbers match on frame and door tags. Original Junior West Coast mirrors are in good shape. Gem Top is in good condition and door works great, some green windows are scratched/cracked. It's been repainted in the orginal silver aluminum color. Overall decent looking truck that's ready to use and will draw compliments at the Home Depot or the gas station. Interior: Very presentable for a driver, even the wife won't complain. Would need work for show duty. Clean and nice, no rodents. Headliner and floor mat in good shape. Door locks work and windows roll up and down. All gauges work, most lights working, wipers work, heater blower blows, temp control sticking(needs a heater control valve underhood, about $20). Dash has cracks under cover, windshield has a few scratches and a chip. There's only one seat belt(driver side). Seat has tears in the vinyl under the cover, but it's firm and not broken down. Ready to use as is. Mechanical: Starts, runs, and drives out well. Engine is a rebuilt 1968 390 out of an F250 2wd Camper Special. It's only got a couple of thousand miles on a rebuild. No smoke, major leaks, or noises and oil pressure is excellent. Transmission shifts well and 4x4 works well in high and low range. Front end has been upgraded to disk brake, open knuckle heavy duty "big hub" Dana 44 out of 1976 Highboy, and power steering was added. I had the truck checked over by a professional mechanic, and everything checked out fine except spider gears in front diff, so I had that rebuilt and have $800 in receipts for that. Needs exhaust work, one muffler at least and replacing complete exhaust would be better. Split rims were upgraded to later one-piece and 10-ply traction radials are in good condition with ample tread and no weather cracks. Overall tight and solid rig that's ready to work. Pricing/Misc: I'm seeing a lot of expensive 67-77 Highboys lately, I sold a decent survivor 71 last year right here on eBay for $15,800. These have become incredibly popular. If you're looking for a minty original survivor, this probably isn't your truck. If you want a solid truck to use as is while you tinker and upgrade it, this could be your ride. This truck is NO RESERVE and will sell. It runs and drives fine, but flying in and driving it home isn't really viable as Montana is a huge state with many remote areas that don't have cell service or roadside assistance. Reasonable transport is available, I will drive truck to meet your transporter and help load it. Title is clear and in my name, buyer will need to get insurance upon purchase as I will cancel mine. Truck can stay here for 30 days, after that $100/month storage will be due. LINK TO ADDITIONAL PICS INCLUDING UNDERSIDE (copy and paste) - just ask if you need more.
