66 T Bird 2 Door Town Hardtop Good Condition Needs Restoration
1966 Ford Thunderbird Town Hardtop Description
Up for auction is a great find. I got this from the original owner. Originally when I got it paperwork couldn't be found and then the family found it. In the process I had lost the paperwork for a number of years as I had moved and have now found paperwork again. So I have the title for it.
So when I bought the car....it had been stored for 18 years in a barn in Lynden WA. It took my mechanic about 30 mins to get it running and he then took it to his shop to work on it. He had done a lot of work on the brakes and getting it running as there were some fuel issues, brake issues etc. Now again it seems as though there are brake issues again, albeit I believe there is a problem with the master brake cylinder, as at one time of another the brake hardware on the wheels had been changed. But that had been years ago. We had bought a battery, put spark plugs and wires in it and had it running pretty well a few years ago then found out there was a problem with the back lights. The sequential lighting works but the sockets that hold the bulbs need repair. In fact the covers for the rear lights are in the trunk.
I had really wanted to restore this to use this car on a daily basis but finances, time and health issues (with a family member that I am responsible for) is forcing this sale. It would make me very sad to see this car sit another summer without someone truly getting to enjoy this great cruiser!
This car is a great start for a restoration project. The seats are in very good shape as is the dash etc. There is limited rust visible (see pics) on the body nor is there much in the way of body damage to it. I have tried to take pics of all visible damage or rust on the car that I have noticed. I believe the car is 95% complete (some trim and a few emblems i believe are missing).
The car came with a 390 cu in engine in it and when we had it running it was running great. I have not ran it in a while but it won't take much to start it. I have included a pic of the build plate so that you can see all the specs on this car. This car has not been customized or rodded in any way shape or form. The original color on the car is Honeydew Yellow. To my knowledge I don't think it has been repainted. A few years ago I had driven it a bit on a permit and the transmission and engine performed excellent. But then when problems with the brakes I parked it and never managed to get back to it.
The car is sold as is with no warranty expressed or implied.
Any questions feel free to ask.
Thanks for looking at my auctions.
