1956 Ford Fairlane Sunliner This beautiful Diamond & Bermuda Blue 1956 Sunliner was built in Long Beach, California on August 6th, 1956. It would sell new in Los Angeles,California and spend much of its life there. The car was purchased from the estate of a severely ill gentleman along with a '56 Crown Victoria.This'56 Sunlineris now on display here in Dallas, Texas and can be seen by appointment. Newly available at mid model year for '56 was Ford's new powerful 312 Thunderbird Special V8. Designated with a "P" code on the data plate,this increased-displacement Holley 4bbl. fed Y-block mill was factory-rated at 225 horsepower behind this Sunliner's optional Ford-O-Matic 3-speed automatic transmission. This example was ordered with the Thunderbird Special 312/225HP 4bbl.V8. Open the doors to 1956. The interior showcases correct Medium Blue & White Vinyl "BM" upholstery colors and pattern as well as Ford's redesigned dash layout for '56. The door panels are in very good condition, displaying custom tailored arm rests along with the correct blue and white checkered vinyl and hardware. It was assembled in Long Beach, California and equipped with themid to late '56 model yearoptional 312/225 HP 4bbl. Thunderbird Special V/8 engine. The instrument cluster showcases a re-design for the 1956 model year with a Thunderbird-style shrouded display, a contrast from the naturally lit astra-dial speedometer of 1955. The steering wheel would also feature a newdished design for safety purposes. Safety was at the forefront for the 1956 model year with Fords new lifeguard design and marketing campaign. This example retains correct original gauges.The Ford-O-Matic 3-speed automatic transmission shifts as it should and the Thunderbird Special 312 V8 runs strong. Further inspection of the exterior will reveal foremost the stylish 1956 model year features, the redesigned grille and new slightly altered luminous side stainless trim. The color combination of Diamond Blue over Bermuda Blue is correct for this example and just gorgeous. The lustrous finish just underwent a professional polish and wax. This is an older restoration that shows beautifully, only a few minor paint flaws on close inspection. The continental spare kit is paired with fender skirts and rear gravel guards. 1956 would be a banner year for Ford in style, mechanical development and sales. This Sunliner is a wonderful car to drive to your coffee show, take the grandkids to your town parades, and take to local shows. It is not a 100 point show car, but a good solid driver that you can take down the road and enjoy. The chrome and stainless is in beautiful condition.This car really retains the look and feel of 1956. It is a correct car. The wheels are correctDiamond Blue painted15-inch steel wearing Firestone Deluxe Wide Whitewall Champion 6.70-15 poly-bias tires all around. Fender skirts and gravel guards further compliment this car. The dark blue convertible top is in very good to excellent condition. Note the fit of the door glass, correctly aligned right and left. The convertible top is protected with a high quality custom tailored convertible top boot. The trunk is solid. The spare well was repaired during the last restoration effort. The mat is correct. Note the side glass pane that was replaced with a decades-old National Tech Schools decal from Los Angeles, California. Further inspection of the engine compartment will reveal a recent master cylinder overhaul and engine detail. The breather assembly is correct as are the fuel lines, fuel pump, and filter, seldom attended to during a restoration effort. Ford "OK" markings are replicated throughout the firewall along with a date on the heater assembly box.
