I found this car in Nebraska from searching craigslist region by region and I have owner it for many years. According to the previous owner the car was sitting for a long time but was in a barn. He said it ran and drove great. When I got it home I realized the reason it was sitting is because it did not go into reverse so the first thing I had to do was rebuild the transmission which was very expensive. I kept the receipts for everything. I also removed and reconditioned the gas tank and had the fuel sending unit rebuilt so the gas gauge is accurate. I cleaned all the fuel lines and put steel braided gas line in the front part of the wagon right to the fuel pump. The wagon sat a little low so I had heavy duty rear springs installed and new rear shocks. The exhaust was shot so there is a new exhaust from the exhaust manifold back. The exhaust manifold gasket still needs to be replaced but I didn’t want to deal with the bolts. I bought a new electronic distributor and plug wires to eliminate the old points so now it is reliable electronic ignition. New plugs and belts were also added. The original carburetor was rebuilt by a local expert. Brakes have been serviced and the car stops fine. I bought a new windshield since the one on the car is cracked and shot but I have not installed it yet (included with the car). I was waiting to have the body restored before putting in the new windshield. At this point the car runs well with no smoke and I use it often, even on long trips and to pull a small trailer, there is a hitch in the back. When I rebuilt the carb I also put new valve cover gaskets and had the valve covers painted the correct color. Original carpet has no rips or badly worn marks and the original seats look great except a small issue under the driver where the seams split and there is a tiny rip. The headliner looks great with no holes. No cracks in the dash aside from the area with the speaker holes has cracked between a few of them, not bad at all. Door panels look fantastic except a few splits in the drivers arm rest. There are plenty of dents, dings scratches and missing paint but this is a solid car. Surface rust everywhere underneath and on lower parts of the car but the only place the rust went through is the rear driver side quarter and wheel well - shown in photo. Passenger side rear quarter has been dented but no rust through. Even the spare tire area and under the battery is still solid. Floors are good too. Under each door and even the rear wagon door is solid. The door jams look amazing. This car can use a complete cosmetic restoration or work on it as you drive it like I have. I shined up the original woodgrain stickers but they all need to be replaced and the trim around the woodgrain has lost the paint and will need restoration as well. The hood is the worst part and shows sign of a fire at some point but people love the car the way it is. I have another hood that I can include if the buyer wants it. The new wheels and low profile tires make the car look awesome. Please look closely at the photos and if you are local I encourage you to see the car in person or have someone check out the wagon BEFORE YOU BUY, NOT AFTER since photos always look better than the actual vehicle. This wagon is almost 50 years old so it is sold as is, where is. Shipping will be the responsibility of the buyer and if you drive it home I can’t make any guarantees whether you make it home or not. I have thousands into this car so the next person has a great solid wagon to keep or restore. The wagon can be seen in Mahwah, NJ 07430 by appointment only. Deposit due immediatelyusing paypal and the payment balance is due within7 days of sale in cash, wire transfer or bank/certified checks but any check will need to clear due to all the fraud.
