1969 Ford Other COE LCF Description

1969 Ford N600 LCF

This is a nice old original survivor with 14k original miles. It was bought new locally, not used much, and stored in a barn most of the time. These are cool old trucks to use for rod projects, wedge hauler, car hauler, rollback, etc. I like the older COE trucks also, but an LCF has much more interior room. These trucks have a unique toy-like tonka look to them. Engine runs perfect. Everything works. Details are in the mechanical section. Clear title. These trucks make great ramp trucks, vintage tow truck, car haulers, tow rigs, push rig, old motorhome, rod pickup, flatbed parade rig, or?....It would be easy to put on a 4x4 frame too. I planned to just shorten it and use a 10' lighter duty flatbed. This has two carrier bearings/short drivelines and would be easy to shorten it without modifying the driveline. Just shorten and remove a carrier, hook it back up. I have more pics I can send of the truck. Thanks for looking.

MECHANICAL

This truck runs and It has a 391 V8 I believe. Manual 4-speed transmission, 2-speed rear. The motor runs nice. No smoke, ticks, knocks. No blowby. Runs cool. I'm sure it needs the regular tuneup stuff (plugs, wires, fluids etc.), but it runs very nice now. Those things aren't needed but I would just personally do it. All gears work in the transmission. Transmission and clutch work perfectly, and the 2-speed axle does too. Brakes work. They are power brakes but the vacuum booster has been bypassed. It is common on these trucks for the brake booster to not work, which is probably why it isn't hooked up.. I would convert it to a newer style vacuum booster and kits are cheap to do that. About $200 for a whole conversion kit with new master cylinder also. The brakes work now, but should be converted. They work but are hard to push. Parking brake works well also. Lights, heater, wipers work. Tires are usable I suppose for a low budget project and tooling around. The exhaust manifold leaks when it's cold. Quiets down when it's warm for the most part. It's single exhaust and needs a muffler. I would drive the truck down the highway now without a worry but it would be good to fix the brakes and check a few things before driving it very far. If it's sold to someone who intends to drive it home, I can help prep it for that.

BODY

This truck has ford's first LCF coe bodystyle that came after '56. I believe '62 was the first year of the N series LCF trucks. I think there were years there where ford made no LCF truck.Although this truck is a '69, the cab is the same style ford used on pickups from '60-'66 on the N model LCF trucks, but the roof panel is extended for more head room. F-series bodystyle changed in '67. If you were going to build a pickup style rod, a 63-66 box would look right on this and match the cab.The body is very nice. The only rust is in the removable panels under the doors. The drivers side covers the brake booster, and the passenger side covers the battery. This is just flat metal and easy to repair. The rest of the body is very nice, dry, straight, and no rust. Paint looks original and is red everywhere. No filler. Door lettering should clean off, from what I've read. A detail guy or autobody place should be able to clean the lettering off from what I've read. The paint is not show quality but looks good when cleaned up. It looks good in the pics but was actually a little dusty. The glass is pretty nice and the windows work fine. It's really kind of like going back in time driving it because it's clean inside and tight.

INTERIOR

The interior is abnormally nice for an old truck like this. Very dry inside. No weird smell. The seat is pretty nice but a couple rips on the drivers side. The seat is comfy though. Headliner in good shape and the visors are. Floormat is original but ripped on the passenger side. Gauges all work besides the fuel gauge. Original tank is disconnected and the auxillary one doesn't have a gauge. Headliner is in good shape surprisingly. Dash area is nice. Radio delete.

OVERALL

This is an excellent truck to start with for a restoration or use it as-is. If you've seen a restored or rodded COE, you know how cool they are. Many people put them on newer chassis. I can remove the flatbed if you'd like, to make it lighter and shorter for shipping. I can also shorten the frame if you'd like

This old truck is sold as-is. Thanks and happy bidding .your listing with Auctiva's FREE Scrolling Gallery.

This is the factory high-cab model. It has about 6" of extra headroom. I don't believe all of the n600's had this but I'm not sure about that.
