1929 Ford Model A Pickup Description

Trucks make great hot rods and this 1929 Ford Model A pickup offers all the same tricks as its roadster and coupe siblings with a big slice of practicality on the side. With a Ford steel body and wooden bed, it has a wonderful old-school look and with reliable small block V8 power, it's entertaining on the road. Lots of fun in a great antique package! Bright blue suits the jaunty little pickup bodywork just fine and... none of the upright boxy shape has been cut, chopped, or otherwise modified. The distinctive Model A grille and hood are neatly rounded and butt up against that upright cab for a wonderful antique look and the bed out back has perfect proportions. Build quality overall is quite good, and while it was finished several years ago, it shows only minor signs of use and a decent shine that still gets a lot of attention at shows. Fit and finish are what you get with a wood-framed Model A body, better than most and with doors that have a solid sound when you pull them closed. The fenders wrap around the wheels tightly for that old-school look and all the running boards have been painted black for a much-needed contrast. The bed is, of course, trimmed in real oak planks and if you're looking for the fuel cell, it's been neatly hidden in the wooden chest. How cool is that?!?! The interior is still sensible and simple, with a bench seat wrapped in blue cloth that makes it look dressed up, albeit a bit dated. Carpets on the floors help control noise and sound and are a big step up from the original rubber mat and wooden floor boards. Matching door panels give it a very finished look and things like a late-model tilt wheel and an AM/FM stereo mean that long-distance cruises are never out of the question. Round black-face gauges monitor all the vitals and suit the simple, smooth dashboard just fine. A column shifter for the TH350 3-speed automatic transmission is another modern update, yet the windshield still tilts open for fresh air like it so many decades ago. It's all a really neat way to bring old and new together pretty seamlessly. The engine is a tried-and-true 305 cubic inch Chevrolet V8 that's properly dressed for duty in a hot rod pickup. Polished aluminum pieces are used throughout to make it sparkle, and anything that wasn't polished or detailed was treated to more of that bright blue engine red paint. The accessories are pulled in tight to the block, so it all fits pretty neatly under the Model A's hood, and it's fed by an Edelbrock 650CFM 4-barrel carburetor on a Weiand intake manifold. There's rack-and-pinion steering and front disc brakes up front, and coilovers out back, so this little truck actually handles quite well. And for a little added rumble, shorty headers feed a dual exhaust featuring glasspack mufflers that cut out before the rear axle. It's got exactly the right stance, too, wearing black steel wheels with dog-dish hubcaps, all wrapped in 195/70/14 blackwall radials. A neat little truck that doesn't seem to be trying too hard to be something it's not. Clean, quick, fun, reliable, and surprisingly economical, it's a great way to cruise this summer. Call now!
