Ram-Air “M” code 351 4V Cleveland, Automatic, 3.50:1 nine inch rear end (originally it was a 3.00:1, I had gears changed to 3.50:1).Some of the factory options include; 351 Cleveland 4 barrel carburetor, power steering, power disc brakes, body side stripe, color keyed racing mirrors, front rear spoilers, Ram-Air hood scoops, grille sport lamps, competition suspension, high back bucket seats, Mach 1 sport interior, tachometer, tinted windows, instrumentation group (see Marti Report).
1971 was the last year of the high compression Mustang V-8’s. Much effort went into maintaining important originality including maintaining original interior and exterior colors and date code correct replacement parts. The original numbers matching engine, transmission, rear end and suspension have all recently been professionally rebuilt. The interior looks great, the car runs strong, no squeaks or oil leaks. Refurbished 8-Track AM/FM radio with I-Pod hook up. Super straight, solid, and under carriage. I can't find any signs of previous accidents. Stainless steel flow master exhaust system, Washington State car all it's life, I'm the third owner. I have the Marti-Report and window sicker.The original Autolite carburetor is included, which has been recently professionally rebuilt. For better reliability, a modern Edelbrock Performer carb was instilled in it's place.The Ram-Air air cleaner was a dealer installed option when it was purchased new. The previous owner/collector claims the mileage is correct (52,400 original miles) and that the odometer hadn't turned over, I believed him but there is no way to know for sure.
ALL RECEIPTS ARE INCLUDED FOR THE MECHANICAL WORK LISTED BELOW AS WELL AS THE MARTI REPORTS AND WINDOW STICKER. (SEE PICTURES FOR A COPY OF MARTI REPORT AND WINDOW STICKER).
MOTOR- Less than 5000 miles on professionally rebuilt numbers matching 351 Cleveland (this was also confirmed by my mechanic during the rebuild). The motor was rebuilt by a well known engine builder. Particular effort was made to keep the motor original in both builds specs and appearance as it would have came from the ford factory. Show quality engine/engine bay. Restored Ram-Air cleaner assembly. The valve covers were also restored as well. The motor was built to stock specifications however many internal parts were upgraded to the highest quality resulting in higher horse power and performance. The original 351 heads were rebuilt using high end components. The original exhaust manifolds were also refinished. The complete exhaust system was replace with a high flow stainless steel system with a X-pipe to equalize the exhaust pressure. Dual Flowmaster mufflers. The original Autolite carb was rebuilt and comes with the Mach 1, however a new Edelbrock carb was installed for reliability. New radiator, flex fan, water pump, thermostat, high torque starter, power steering pump, alternator, fuel pump,alternator, voltage regulator, starter solenoid, all belts, hoses, fuel and vac lines. Only high zinc oil has been used for oil changes. The points have been updated to Petronix electronic ignition.
TRANSMISSION- At the time of the motor rebuild the original C-6 transmission was removed and rebuilt to stock specifications with the exception of a mild shift kit. New transmission vacuummodulator. New transmission cooler lines and torqueconverter.
SUSPENSION/BRAKES- The entire brake and suspension system was recently professionally rebuilt within the last 1000 miles by a well known local shop that specializes in classic automobile suspension (Super Bee's). New front coil springs, shocks and all bushings were replaced. New rear leaf springs,and shocks. New steering gear box and coupler. The complete brake system was rebuilt front and rear including new master cylinder. New upper control shafts, control arm assembly with lower ball joints, sway bar bushings, sway bar end links, upper ball joints, brake lines,alignment
AXLE- The original 9 inch axle was recently completely rebuilt. The original 3.00 1 axle ratio was upgraded to 3.50. New axle seals and rear wheel bearings. The drive shaft was balanced/rebuilt with new yokes, and heavy duty u-joints.The speedometer was re-calibrated for the 3.50 gear ratio.
PAINT/BODY- This car was repainted its original color of Ford #3560-A (bright red). This was a full window out high end paint job. New rubber seals. The Mustang does not have any rust. The undercarriage is very clean and detailed as seen in the pictures.New chrome front bumper. The rare hard to find original rubber front bumper is included. The Ram Air system was recently rebuilt with new vacuum actuators and lines. A new side stripe decal set is included. The door and body lines are excellent. The body is arrow strait with no dings. The paint is beautiful.The Mach 1 still retains its original front and rear spoilers. All of the glass is original (Carlite). New upgraded head lights. I chose not to install the side stripe graphics, however I have a brand new decal set that is included.
INTERIOR- The interior was restored to factoryspecs in its original color of black. The interior is in like new condition. The following is new; door panels, carpet, front and rear seat upholstery, head liner, reproduction dash pad, all gauges, floor mats, rear view mirror, carpeted trunk mat. Updated three point shoulder harnesses and new rear seat belts.The carpet was replaced with a factory Mach one reproduction kit with factory red floor accents. The original AM/FM 8 track was refurbished and now has a I-Pod hook up. New speaker in factory dash location. None of the interior panels or door panels were cut for additional speakers. New antenna. New left and right window regulators. The windows roll up nicely. All electrical, dash, dome, gauges, ect all work. The interior beautiful.
WHEELS & TIRES- Brand new 15x7 front and 15x8 rear Magnum 500 wheels. Brand new BFG tires front and rear (95%+)
OTHER- New heater core and heater blower motor.
ORIGINAL PARTS INCLUDED- The original Autolite 4V carb (just rebuilt), original rubber front bumper, spare wheel, jack, and lug wrench are all included. A brand new Mach 1 side stripe decal set is included as well.
I have, very regretfully, decided to put my beloved Mach 1 up for sale as there is another classic car I am interested in. This is a very original well kept low mile rust free survivor that has been restored to original specs. The Mach 1 runs, drives, stops, and looks excellent. The Mach 1 is fully documented. The Marti Report, window sticker, and receiptsas well as many original parts are included with the sale. Clear title in hand. The Mustang needs nothing and can be used for car shows or a pristinedriver.
