1955 Ford Thunderbird convertible Description
Rust free - had been in "high mountain desert" storage since 1966. I purchased three years ago - had it mechanically rebuilt: Original 292 engine rebuilt by AMA in Fort Collins, CO, transmission rebuilt, all new suspension (shocks, bushings, etc), new wiring harness, new aluminum radiator, rebuilt power brake booster, new wheel/brake cylinders, exhaust, wheels and tires, all new interior (original padded dash in excellent condition)..No rust in floors, trunk, etc, quarters, etc, found. Some old bodywork found in RR quarter (some bondo). Car was originally black. Was painted orange late 1950's or early '60's. Great patina... "cracked paint" areas were buffed, clear coated and "nostalgic" racing decals/graphics were added. Radio is not hooked up, power seat does not work but have new switches, etc. Holds excellent oil pressure, runs cool. Tach works but unhooked because it "squealed." Needs lubricated, I think. Has new gas tank sending unit, but gauge does not register. I take the car to shows/cruises. Only about 150 miles on mechanical rebuild. Car really gets looks a "high fives.." Why paint it! Moving on to another project...Gary - 970 685 4135. Car is located about 1.5 hours west of Colorado Springs.
