The second-generation Thunderbirds are arguably the most distinctive of all Thunderbirds. So when you can find an exceptionally well cared for example with its factory-correct colors, big block power, and tons of chrome like this 1960 Ford Thunderbird, you should make it yours! This car was always babied by its previous owner, who sadly passed away, and I purchased it from the original owner’s son. With only 51,000 miles on the clock she starts right up and purrs like a Thunderbird should. Black with a red interior has always been my favorite color combinations for these T-Birds! It just adds an extra level of class to an already classy Bird. The factory-correct Presidential Black has a nice gloss which perfectly frames the bright red leather interior. The Jet-Age styling of this car can’t be beat! There's a Squared off hardtop profile sitting atop a dip in the hood which accentuates the hood scoop while leading down to the massive grill. In the rear the dip in the trunk helps accentuate the rear grill with its light pods and rear tail fins.
Under the hood the proper 352 cubic-inch V8 sits in the engine bay as the forward-tilting hood gives way to a yellow and white (original colors) contrast drawing your attention to the motor. This V8 has the right power and torque to confidently move this coupe down the road. The dual exhaust gives a hint at the power under the hood, but the T-bird never loses its premium composure. It floats down the boulevard like a true vintage luxury coupe should. This is aided by the smooth shifting three-speed automatic transmission, strong power brakes, and effortless power steering.
The sophistication continues inside as the coupe has a Lincoln-level of options from the power tinted windows to the driver’s seat, which is power operated. The red leather interior is soft and inviting as the red theme continues in the door panels, carpeting and optional floor mats to deliver a uniform package that reminds you what classic style was all about. The bright center console and cockpit-style dash are more reminders of the jet age.
There is no rust anywhere on this car. The car has never been in an accident and it drives down the highway straight and true. The 300 H.P. V8 engine has plenty of pick up power, the motor and transmission are in great shape with no leaks, noises or smoke. You can get in this T-Bird and drive it anywhere, it cruises down the highway at 75 MPH with no issues. The interior is in great shape with no rips or tears in the seats, headliner or door panels. It also has optional seat belts and optional electric wipers. The car does have a few small paint chips that have been touched up by the previous owner. (The car is 58 years old after all) It does have a few minor issues but nothing drastic. It has a single crack in the windshield and one of the back windows needs a little help going up and down. The trunk opens with a screwdriver but I have purchased a new trunk ornament and lock that I just haven’t had the time to install. It comes with some hard to find extra parts that are included. (see picture)
The car is not in museum condition but overall it is in very nice condition inside and out. I am sure the winning bidder will be more than pleased with this T-Bird. The car is a real attention getter and it’s a blast to drive! If you have any other questions please don’t hesitate to ask.
This is your opportunity to pick up a beautiful classic coupe before the market makes the pricing more exclusive! Good luck and happy bidding!
