1968 Ford Fairlane Convertible Description
1968 Ford Fairlane 500 Convertible
PRICE REDUCED BY $3,000...SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET A GREAT DEAL ON A NICE CAR!
Lots of new parts! Original interior, original engine, original convertible top and glass!
This car was resurrected in 2016 from a garage where it sat for 35 years! Purchased from the estate of the original owner...literally a little old lady!! Check out the pictures of the wooden blocks on the brake and gas pedal that were put on there when new, so she could reach them! I think that is the coolest feature. She quit driving it in 1981, I have the original plates that were last renewed in 1980.
The doors don't sag and click shut effortlessly. The trunk and door bottoms are clean and solid. Nice original bumpers and trim. While they are not perfect, they shine nicely. Good seals and weather stripping. The car has aged extremely well.
Repainted in 2017 in the original Highland Green, which sets off the Dark Red Corinthian Vinyl interior very well. The only modifications are an aluminum radiator (she runs nice and cool...check out the temp gauge, that is after running for almost 45 minutes...160 degrees). Custom dual exhaust, sounds absolutely fantastic. Exhaust is very well done, tucked up nicely and exiting like the stock system...but much throatier.

There is probably more that I am forgetting. I built this car for my father and for reliability. Life changes and I am selling it due to a change with my father. I can use the money for his care more than the car sitting in the garage. It shows great as you can see in the pictures. It is a great looking driver, paint has aged well. Drives down the road smoothly and has plenty of power. She's ready for a new home and ready for car shows.
I hope this car goes to someone that appreciates it and all the work that has gone into getting her back to her former glory.
There are a couple of things the car needs done, nothing huge. The car's heater core sprung a leak this spring, so it has been bypassed. The float on the carburetor likes to stick sometimes, so I purchased a replacement carb for it but it has not been installed. I will leave that to the next owner. The hydraulic ram for the power top on the passenger side leaks. The top still goes up and down under power, but it needs to be replaced. They are not very expensive or difficult to replace. I have had the panel off to inspect the leak.
