My name is Mr. Bitterman, I am listing this Truck for my pal Mr. John Lizza. Mr Lizza wants the Truck SOLD ! NO RESERVE ! FOR MORE PICTURES GO TO Hemmings Ad #2343270.
Fully restored, frame off, nut & bolt, museum quality restoration. This truck is original family 3rd generation owned. In 2011 she went into the restoration shop for a 12 month intensive ($85,000.00) restoration. All mechanicals were sent out for " complete rebuild " to the finest craftsmen, drivetrain: 239 cid flathead V8 engine (w/hardened valve seat inserts), steering box, generator, carburetor, 4 spd (spur gear) transmission & dana rear.
All new NOS stock, brake master, brake cylinders, drums, shoes, lines, cables, bearings & seals, linkages, joints, knuckles, pins & links, leaf springs, universals, drive shaft & balanced, radiator, fuel tank, all nuts, bolts, screws & fasteners (many stainless), all belts, hoses & gaskets, zirk fittings, mirrors & gauges. Completely rewired aircraft standards (wire, gauge & connectors).
Everything body: frame, cab (in & out), bed & bumpers were taken to bare metal, sealed, primed & painted with enamel & urethane clear coat. Bench seat & door panels were sent out, re sprung and expertly recovered with xtra heavy Naugahyde by the finest craftsmen. Oak wood bed planks with stainless steel strips & fasteners. Firestone 7.50-16 Delux Champion gum dipped white wall tires.
The only 2 things on this Truck non factory are the air cleaner (easily replaceable) and the engine heads. Some time in the 50s Grandpa Lizza had the Edlebrock High Performance Heads installed.
Upon the 2012 finish of the restoration, the Truck was presented & unveiled at a large Lizza family celebration. After that she has since sat collecting dust for the last 8 years in John Lizzas man cave. After much consideration & painful contemplation, John has put his sentimental feelings aside and she needs a good home where she could be taken out, shown & driven, for which he never had the time.
Being that I over saw the restoration, John saddled me with the task at hand. First thing I did was flat bed her to Suffolk Auto & Truck to my friend, 40 yr. expert truck mechanic Mr. Linith in Brightwaters N.Y. The fuel tank was drained and flushed (brand new NOS) clean as a whistle. The all new NOS brake system drained, flushed, filled & bled, all drums adjusted. Engine oil & filter cartridge changed. Transmission & rear fluids topped off. Parking brake adjusted. New NY State Inspection Sticker.
After her trip to the spa, I drove her the 30 miles from Brightwaters back to her Westbury climate controlled man cave home. Like nothing I ever drove ! This is real Heavy Duty machinery, torque is furious. I took the Southern State Parkway, shifting thru the 4 speeds power bands reaching 65 mph with more to go. It was the most exhilarating ride of my life, like a rollercoaster ride, huge wheelbase, giant steering wheel. A real blast from the past, " pure 1951 " (she's not one of those restorods). Take a ride back in History, a lot of fun ! nothing like it !
