1961 Ford Galaxie Description

I started this custom project, I had all the parts for a Meteor Montcalm but no car. After a few years of searching for a nice Sedan (couldn't afford a hardtop) I found this car in the Los Angeles area. The car has spent it's whole life (with the exception of the last three years in Maine) in either Colorado (Denver) or Los Angles. The car was a nice base to start with but I got side tracked on other projects. All of the original Galaxie parts come with the car, everything that was added was bolted or screwed on, everything can be reversed. I had a nice carpet installed and seats upholstered, those are the original seat belts in the car. When I removed the carpet to install new carpets, it was shocking how solid the floors were. There is no rust thru in the interior of the car at all, it's as solid as a rock. I've got an extra Dash Cluster with the proper Meteor Emblem which could be painted black and ironically is only a thousand miles off the Ford's original Odometer. The tires were put on by the previous owner and are nice. The engine runs great but is real loud. (no exhaust system). The brakes are non existence. The transmission works fine but, the gear lever has that typical sloppyness to it that Fords of this time period have (recalled item) There is a rust hole in the trunk and it looks like the both were repaired once with bondo. remember, the truck floor is basically the gas tank so it's the panels around the tank that were rotted, there's a board currently to keep the critters out. The original black paint is on the car with spots of black primer someone previously applied. The door trim for the up sweep of chrome are not on the car, they are included in the price as well as the rear quarter panel lower Aluminum shields you'd normally see on a Galaxie or Montcalm. They appear to have been removed when the rockers were repaired with bondo. This is typical of the 60 Ford which has the aluminum trim that captured dirt and then formed rust under the trim. It will need to be repaired. Frame is solid as a rock, sorry no pictures of the engine bay, I have them but can't find them but it's all original and clean. Engine runs strong as it should on an 87K mileage car. The car was originally sold by Stoval Ford in Denver Colorado. The car can go in many different directions, the parts for the Montcalm were expensive I paid about $2,500 for the car and then the shipping and then the carpet and seats, but I had fun, I won't make a profit here, just want this to get into the right hands. The interior headliner has begun to fall in the last 6 months so it should be replaced. The photos include the before January of 2015 when I shipped it back East as well as today. The car can remain where it is for 60 days after the auction end but then there will be a storage charge of 250 a month until it's picked up. Partial month will be charged pro rata. Please remember this is a Project, a Clone, and the low price reflects that. You're not buying a fully restored car but a nice old classic car
