1960 Ford Thunderbird. 37K Miles! Gorgeous! Must See!
1960 Ford Thunderbird Description
Up for sale is my beautiful 1960 Thunderbird Coupe. NON AC CAR.
This gorgeous "square bird" was built in September 1960 at Ford's Wixom, Michigan plant. Originally purchased from Bob Jones Ford in Lakewood/Denver, Colorado. This numbers matching Thunderbird has the original 352 CU V8 with 4BBL carb (I have original carb, I just had a new Holley 4bbl carb installed). Originally rated at 300 HP. The rebuilt motor runs very smooth. This is a 3 owner car (I'm the 4th owner). It had remained with the 3rd owner (family owned) for over 30 years from the New York area. It was purchased by them in the late 1980's with 28,610 miles and currently shows just under 37,000 miles. It was primarily used to go to and from Thunderbird car shows. I have the last title that shows "actual miles" but I have no other documentation to prove otherwise. However, if you look at the interior pics specifically the bright orange needles on the gauges and the steering wheel quality, I have no reason to believe the mileage is not actual.
Beautifully re-finished in it's original Corinthian white with a very clean dark blue/light blue vinyl and nylon cord fabric interior (rare). The door panel plaque designates color code M (Corinthian White exterior) with Trim Code 72 (Dark blue/light blue vinyl and nylon cord interior). No rust present anywhere on the car. Perfect floors and clean undercarriage. All door jams, hinges, inner panels and wheel wells are very clean.
Beautiful blue interior. No smells, no rips or tears. Dash perfect. Steering wheel perfect. 352 CU V8 runs excellent and starts with ease. No smoking or knocking. 3 speed "cruise-o-matic" transmission shifts smoothly.
Body is in excellent condition. NO RUST! No dents, dings or scratches. Just a couple touched up stone chips on the passenger door and a small blemish on the drivers side near the rear wheel. Barely noticeable. Not quite original Corinthian white shade but close. Was repainted some time in it's life and is in very, very good condition. All jams and under hood and trunk were painted. Chrome is very good. Only some minor blemishes. No rust. Glass is very good. No chips or cracks in it.
$10,000 spent in recent repairs to get this bird in shape. Tires are excellent. New power steering pump. New Holley carb. Brakes cleaned, adjusted and checked and are good to go. New brake booster with a new master cylinder. New gas tank, new fuel line and in line filter and new full length brake line. Fresh tune up with new plugs and wires. New shocks all around. Newer battery, fresh oil change, new mufflers, new belts and new upper radiator hose. All pwr windows work ($3000 to fix - ALL REBUILT WITH NEW MOTORS, ROLLERS AND SWITCHES AND A TON OF HARD LABOR). Power seat, heat, lights, signals and horn work. Must see to appreciate.
Serious inquires only please. Don't waste my time will stupid low ball offers. This car is priced VERY fair for all the work that has been done to it. Good luck finding another one that has had this much mechanical work done to it that you now don't have to do.
