You are viewing a rare 1990 Ford Mustang Limited Edition LX 5.0 Convertible. These are also commonly known as a “7-UP” car and have a unique history. They were originally to be given as the grand prize for the 1990 NCAA “March Madness” 7-UP soda promotion. The pitch was simple: sink a ball from center court, and you could drive home one of the extremely limited-edition cars that night. For reasons unknown, the 7-UP contest was cancelled at the last minute Ford built about 30 of the specially optioned convertibles for the event but when the promotion was unexpectedly cancelled Ford needed to sell them. The few cars that had been built were sent out to dealers and were quickly sold.
The cars were a hit and Ford decided to rebrand the unique Mustangs and produced a total of only 4,103 units. These were called "Limited Edition" vehicles and were the unofficial commemoration of the Mustang’s 25 th Anniversary, as Ford never actually built an official 25th anniversary car. 2,743 came equipped with automatic transmissions and 1,360 with 5-speeds, and 21 were exported outside the US. These convertibles all started out as coupes, and had the hardtops removed prior to shipment to Cars & Concepts of Brighton, Michigan, for the convertible transformation. Very unique and rare. All were offered in one color combination only, special Deep Emerald Green metallic paint (Ford paint code PA) with white leather interior along with white convertible tops. Also the front fascia, outside mirrors and body side moldings were painted to match the green exterior. They all received the 5.0-liter drive train along with the 15" aluminum turbine wheels from the Mustang GT. They came fully loaded with Special Value Package 245A consisting of cruise control, A/C and a premium sound system with AM/FM radio and a cassette player. The only other options one could order on a Limited Edition Mustang were an engine block heater and a front license plate bracket. Below is a link to a good article that gives more details on these rare vehicles;

This is a very well preserved example of one of these rare 7-UP cars. It comes with the desirable and even more hard to find 5-speed.
Three owner car, and by the looks of it always garaged and pampered. There is no rust on this vehicle at all. All body panels are factory original as is the paint. (please note in the pictures that all the body panels have the original Ford VIN stickers on them, no panels replaced)
I keep it garaged and covered. I am a private owner and have a clear State of Pennsylvania Title in hand.
Importantly, unlike most all Fox body Mustangs this is 100% completely stock, absolutely no modifications, mechanical or otherwise. If you look at the images you will see what a 1990 Mustang looked like from the factory, under the hood is all original, except wear and maintenance items like battery, spark plugs, air filter, etc.
The vehicle is still all original with the original matching number drive train that only has 38,490 miles. Note mileage is slowly increasing, I drive it about 50 miles per month.
The cars look and drives beautifully. I would say it is one step below a show car (a solid #2 car) only because I drive it occasionally and really enjoy getting it out on the road.
Car needs nothing, starts right up, stops as it should, drives like new. 100% ultra-reliable Ford mechanicals and 5.0 motor. Simply get in and drive.
It took me a long time to find one this nice and my plan was to keep it for many years. However, my wife has never loved it because she won’t drive a manual transmission car, so it has to go.
I researched many of these 1990 7-UP cars and believe mine is priced very reasonably. It is priced to sell. You will be hard pressed to find a nicer one with this low mileage for anywhere near my price. If you have any questions please feel free to email me. I will try to answer as best of my knowledge of the car.
I am describing the condition as accurately as possible on each major system below.
Body & Paint:
The original paint is holding up very well and still looks beautiful with only very minor scratch here and there. It has a deep shine with a great reflection. The front bumper has very minor "Road Rash" marks from driving on the highway. (I do have the front license plate bracket to go with the car). The white convertible top is original and in excellent condition without any discoloration or any other problems, it does have a spot here and there from being in the well when the top is down. The power top is working 100%. The convertible rear window is glass and it also looks good. I have the factory original white convertible boot cover and it is like new and also comes with the original storage bag.
Exterior Trim:
All Limited Edition vehicles received color-keyed body side moldings, fascia moldings and side view mirrors. All of the trim, emblems, and bezels are original and are in excellent shape. Glass headlights have no cracks or other damage. All plastic marker rear and front lights are in excellent condition.
Interior:
The vehicle has the original "White Leather" interior. Actually it is an off white, not bright white, even still it is in excellent condition. Leather is in excellent shape without any discoloration, wear, or cracking. Driver’s seat is full power; passenger seat is manual. The bucket seats look great along with the center console. The black dash and trim pieces all look new without any fading or cracking. The original gray carpet (no floor mats) do not show any wear of fading. All of the power options/equipment are in working order including, Power Windows, Power Lock, Gauges, AM/FM/Cassette Radio with Premium Sound System, and Cruise Control. The Air Conditioning needs a charge (is original R-12 system). I don’t bother with it as I almost always drive with the top down in nice weather. Also full disclosure I never tried the cassette deck as I no longer owns cassettes!
All warning lights on the dashboard are working and come on (and go off!) when they should. Also note 1990 was the first year that Mustang had a driver’s side airbag so there is an airbag light also (which works properly).
The door map pockets have been fixed. A common problem with Mustangs of this era is the map pockets sag (sometimes severe). These have been removed from the car, the elastic repaired, and reinstalled. They are now tight as new (which was never really that tight anyway!)
Glass:
Appears all original with Ford OEM type logos ion each piece. Rear window is glass (not plastic) and in excellent condition. The windshield has a small chip in it, see pictures as I tried to get a close up. It is located about 1 inch from the left side A pillar, not in the way of the sight of driver at all. Hardly noticeable unless you are looking for it.
Engine Compartment:
Under the hood sits the original 5.0 Liter EFI HO V8 engine. The engine compartment is extremely clean and original looking. As mentioned, it is 100% factory original, no modifications at all.
Trunk Compartment:
The trunk compartment looks like new. It is in excellent shape with all the correct items still in their places. The spare tire has never hit the ground is mounted in its storage location. The factory jack and jacking tools are included. The black storage bag for the white convertible top boot cover is also in the trunk.
Wheels & Tires:
Includes the original GT turbine wheels with factory wheel locks and key. Rubber is in excellent condition with less than 3,000 miles on them. Goodyear Eagle GT “HR” tires, all match.
Frame & Undercarriage:
The underside is very clean and is all original. The vehicle was never driven in the winter or salt. It has received a very pampered life, and it shows.
Engine / Transmission / Rear End:
All of these Limited Edition cars came equipped with Ford's 5.0 liter EFI High-Output V8 delivering around 225 horsepower. Remember, the car is all original with only 39K miles on it. It has always been very well maintained and serviced. The vehicle runs great with no issues or problems.
The car has a factory five speed manual overdrive transmission making it only "1 of 1360". Helping put this V-8 power to the pavement is the original 3.08:1 "Traction-Lok" axle.
The clutch grabs nice and low with no issues in shifting, and has no worn synchro issues.
Brakes:
The brakes are original and in good shape. There are no leaks or other problems with brake system. The brakes do not squeal, fade, pull or pulsate. The parking brake is also working correctly. Discs on the front, drums on the back.
Suspension:
All stock and original in good working order. Let go of the steering wheel and it will stay right there without any wandering or pulling. The wheel is rock solid without any shaking, vibrations, or rattles. The front end is tight and aligned.
Exhaust:
The entire exhaust system is original and not modified. It is in very good shape that has an awesome sound. Has true dual exhaust with straight dual chrome tips out the back.
