1956 GMC Other Custom Description

For sale: Rare factory V8 1956 GMC Napco 4x4 barn find patina western ranch truck. Purchased new at Hulett Motors in Chester MT and lived in the Montana high desert, first as a pipeline service truck, and then on a bigcattle ranch. This truck spent it's days riding fence, herding cows, hauling hay and has some real history.Laststreet registered in the 1960sand hasn't been off the ranch since, same owner fornearly 50 years.Original truck that hasn't been modified and original components areintact. Great project truck to restore, or get it running and drive as is with patina. These Napco trucks are pretty special, check out the original promotional video below:

Exterior: All original and wearing some hard-earned patina. Has all the typical rust these trucks get due to outside storage - most notably front fenders, rear cab corners, inside roof above windshield. Underbody looks good, we don't get frame rust out here in the west and cab mounts look good. Don't see major rust from underside, haven't removed original floor mats but can see surface rust and scale when I lift them up. Please look at linked Photobucket album below for complete pics of all problem areas. Thankfully, aftermarket panels are available for these Task Force trucks, all including the roof panel now. Pretty straight old truck, some dents and dings as shown.Lower hinge on driver door is worn and door doesn't open fully. Original wood bed is intact but bed strips are rusted. Tailgate is bent and hard to close.

Interior: All original, sitting a long time, and showing it's age. Original seat under blanket cover is in rough shape and will need recovering.

Mechanical: Complete and readyfor fullmechanical restoration. Will need a complete going over. Truck hasn't ran for years, so plan on fuel system and brakes at a minimum. I put in a battery just to try it, hit the key and original Pontiac V8 whirled right over on the starter. That's as far as I went. Tires didn't hold air, so I had the original 16 inch rims professionally blasted and powder coated and new tubes installed. Tires are original type 6.50-16 bias traction and have good tread but are older with some weather cracks. One front hub was replaced with a newer style hub, don't have original. Rolls and steers freely for loading.

Pricing/Misc: Looked for comps, hard to find any as the factory V8 Task Force GMC trucks are extremely rare. I've seen a few sell at auctions for ridiculous money. This one is rough but complete and restorable and will be sold with NO RESERVE. There probably won't be another coming along anytime soon. Good luck!

*****. ****I did not mean to infer that this was a factory NAPCO truck, only that it is a factory V8 truck. Poor grammar on my part, in the form of a run-on sentence. This truck was, like most 1956 models, an upfit truck. I was told it was part of a fleet order of NAPCO 4x4 trucks for the pipeline company, and upfitted at the dealer with several other trucks. *************THANKS
