1979 International Harvester Scout Description

1979 IH Scout II Traveller, 345V8, 4WD, AC, PS, PB, with tilt steering column, for sale. This Scout was our daily driver for about 10 years. It is the Traveller model, which has a longer wheelbase than the Scout II. It is complete, and is currently registered to us with a clear title. We bought this one out of Arizona and it had no rust and everything worked fine. It now is very rusty and the AC stopped working. We last ran and drove it about 2 years ago. It ran and drove well. All 4WD drivetrain components functioned well, and as expected. We stopped using it, and it has just been sitting, as family health issues forced our priorities to change. It has the fiberglass removeable top which is in pretty good shape, with the roof rack. The worst rust is on the rear passenger quarter panel, but there is rust all around, as seen in the photos. The floors are pretty good, however. The interior has the brown Tartan Plaid on the seats and door panels. It has 2 inch square receivers on both the front and rear, and the front has a steel grill guard. I changed and upgraded many new parts over the years, ie. new radiator, new starter, Holley distributor upgraded with Pertronix Flamethrower II electronic ignition and coil, AFB(Edelbrock) 4 barrel carburetor with electric choke, newly rebuilt front driveshaft with new slip yoke and U- joint, rebuilt Torquflite 3 speed transmission(had this one rebuilt, not a replacement). We really loved this Scout and are sad to see it go, but someone who needs a complete Scout to restore and enjoy, or use for its many great parts will be the beneficiary. This Scout needs complete restoration and the buyer is responsible for transportation. Cash is preferred upon pick up and conveyance of the title.
