1974 Jaguar XJ6 L Chevy 350 motor & tranny conversion - white - California car!
1974 Jaguar XJ6 Description
The date of the motor conversion was 10/25/1990 and the mileage was 24, 270, at that time. This car was in California until 2009, which would explain the remarkable lack of rust, and I bought it in 2012 and have kept it in my garage, only to be driven on nice days in the warmer months. I also have several service records
Chevy 350 motor and transmission conversion. Runs and drives like a dream. Brand new battery just put in 2 months ago (the last one died over this winter). Duel gas tanks are both solid and in working order. I do not know how many miles on the vehicle or the motor. Garage kept and NEVER taken out during the winter for the 6 years that I've owned it. Good tires. A very drivable vehicle. Tan leather Interior is in great condition for it's age. The back of the drivers seat is missing a cover panel. Vinyl dashboard and back panel are perfect. Crazing of the polycoat on the wood dash. but the wood is all intact and gorgeous. I planned on taking the polycoat off and refinishing the wood. The factory lighter does not work. Working turn signals, windshield wipers, hi/lo beams, brake, tail, back and running lights. Interior lights work. All glass is original and good. Headliner is in good condition but is sagging. Front Power windows work, Back windows don't work. I'm not sure if they have been disconnected for some reason or if the motors are done.
Speedometer does not work but 1. there are MPH apps that work amazing and 2. you can easily learn your speed by the tachometer. Power door locks do not work. Doors do not lock but the trunk does. Trunk hinges don't hold the lid up but I do have replacements and they will be included with the sale. Car had factory a/c but it does not work. I've never attempted to get it going. After market cassette radio and speakers. Works but not amazing. Body is in amazing condition for it's age, just a couple of small rust bubbles have started to show up which should be addressed and wouldn't cost much for a body shop to whip them into shape. Super straight car. Could easily enter into car shows with a tiny bit of touch up.
Disclaimer: I'm just a person, I'm no kind of auto dealer or even mechanically inclined so I might not be able to answer really technical questions about this car but I will try my best. With that said, I can say that I drive and trust this car but it will be offered "as-is" with no warranty or guarantee, which any reasonable person would understand why. Just like any vintage vehicle, you'll just have to get to know her.
