1963 Jaguar XKE E-Type SCCA Race Car
1963 Jaguar E-Type Description
This well-documented, 1963 LHD, FHC, (only 5872 ever produced) Series I, E-type, SCCA, race car was built by John Barber in the late 60s from a 27,000 mile original car. The car was purchased from his widow. When not on the track it has been stored in climate-controlled conditions. Body-wise, this is a completely rust free car with the original steel bonnet. The underside is immaculate. The body has been modified in several places, such as air dams, rear fender flares, battery box in the passenger’s seat position, and the addition of a fuel cell to the trunk floor. Based on 50 years of collector car restoration, I believe these modifications, including the addition of the roll cage, can be easily undone if so desired and the car returned to original condition. The car has a highly modified Chevrolet Corvette 350 engine that runs and sounds great, and Muncie 4 speed. It comes with a non-matching number, period correct, XKE 3.8L six cylinder and 4 speed transmission in unknown condition, as well as, the original front and rear windscreens, side windows, bumpers, headlight trim and glass, tach, speedo, voltage gauge, suspension parts, differential, and other bits and pieces. There is no original interior. It also comes with many 350 engine parts such as spare block, crank, pistons, rods, roller rockers and other stuff. There is an extra set of tires and rims. Optima battery. This car competed in many SCCA races from 1969 to 1974, including the SCCA national runoffs. Car can be driven. Brakes are functional. Later, it raced in HSR vintage events. Comes with clean Florida title. Vintage Logbook included. The last picture is of the car at Sebring. One can imagine this car back in its day racing alongside original Shelby Cobras, Ferraris, and Maseratis.
