1977 Jeep CJ -- Description

Hard to have more fun on four wheels than with a Jeep CJ7, especially one as dialed-in as this brilliant white 1977 Jeep CJ7. With a classic paint job, a V8 engine, and trail-rated hardware atop an aggressive lift, it's ready to do some serious off-roading, and you just can't beat that old-school look and anvil-like durability that the CJ7 brings. We're finally getting to the point where these CJs are legitimate collector's items, but you'll probably... discover that very few are finished to this level because they're so often ragged out on the trails. The shape is unmistakable, especially with the doors and top removed, and thanks to a very nice white paint job and a set of 5 blacked-out wheels, a padded roll bar, and dual step bars, it looks incredible. The tub is fiberglass (sans the steel hood), so it will last forever, avoid dents, and the wild brush out on the trails will not scratch it up so you can plow ahead with confidence. Thanks to professional workmanship throughout, it feels tight and fits together quite well, and while a lot of these CJs led hard lives, this one has obviously been taking it easy since the work was completed. Heck, some Jeep guys might scoff at how bright and shiny this one is, but nobody will argue that this isn't a great-looking off-roader. Add in the fender flares, black bumpers fore and aft, big black mirrors, and that matching spare tire hanging off the back, and it looks to be ready for just about anything. Inside, this one is almost too nice to venture into the dirt, with sporty Corbeau front bucket seats and a matching rear bench. There's also a useful center console with storage and cup holders, and a pair of nice-fitting rubber floor mats over the floors, which are fully carpeted and provide much-needed sound deadening and heat insulation, not to mention that they add a touch of sophistication to the cabin. The gauges look good in the painted white dash, highlighted by the large speedometer in the center that also contains the fuel and temp instruments. There's an original Jeep stereo still in the dash, but entertainment now comes from a modern AM/FM/CD/AUX/USB/SAT stereo head unit that swapped in its favor. There's also an original two-spoke Jeep steering wheel which makes it feel far more sophisticated than you'd expect inside, and it's joined on the column by a shifter that manages the TH400 3-speed automatic transmission that makes this V8-powered Jeep feel like a go-anywhere muscle car rather than a utilitarian machine. There still aren't many vehicles that are more fun to drive than a CJ. In 1977, most Jeeps carried the 4.2 liter inline-six, which was certainly adequate, but for all the torque lovers, the 304 V8 was the motor of choice. Believed to be the original engine, it's topped with a 2-barrel carburetor and factory-style intake manifold, and delivers big power for fun on or off the pavement. Power steering is probably mandatory with those giant tires and it carries front disc brakes that make stopping drama-free. The snorkeled air cleaner was painted red to match the plug wires, and stock exhaust manifolds feed a custom dual exhaust system with side exits that sounds awesome. The chassis is in great condition, including the TH400 3-speed automatic transmission and 2-speed transfer case, and much of the hardware looks to have been serviced regularly throughout the years. Beefy off-road shocks manage the lift kit, which provides plenty of ground clearance for some pretty hairy rock-crawling with room for those giant, white-letter 33x12.50-15 BFGoodrich off-road radials on blacked-out deep dish wheels A muscle car for the dirt? You'd better believe it. Not many CJs get refinished to this level, so when you find one this nice, don't hesitate. Call today!
