This is a VERY NICE, SOLID, RUST FREE CJ7 available for sale to the highest bidder in this NO RESERVE auction!! In my opinion, no other vehicle gives the same sense of freedom and fun as an open top Jeep. There just is something about the utilitarian feel and wind in your hair that is unlike any other. It's almost like you are part of the outdoors environment when you go on weekend adventures. (or daily commute) I love the simplistic layout and the timeless cool factor these Jeeps have.
Let me introduce you to my 1985 Jeep CJ-7 that I lovingly refer to as "OL' BLUE". This Jeep had a long ownership history in sunny California before I acquired it about a year ago from my friend John out of southern Oregon. This Jeep has been in sunny California and in Oregon where we also have a mild climate. We do not salt our roads in Oregon. This helps preserve our classic vehicles for many years and makes West coast cars some of the most desirable classics anywhere! This is rare to find a CJ-7 this rust free!
I love the interior of Ol' Blue. It is just a very nice simple utilitarian no nonsense interior. Everything retains a classy and clean stock appearance. You have everything you need and nothing that you don't. Every one of the gauges and lights work properly! The interior has been updated with new rubber moulded vinyl covering to maintain the OEM look. This is not glued down and would be easily removed if that is your style. The upholstery is excellent throughout and the seats are very comfortable. The back seat is in great shape and flips/tumbles as it should. No rips, tears, stains etc. All of the seat belts are intact and work as thy should. The OEM steering wheel is very nice, and does not show wear. The dash pad looks fantastic! The heater, lights, and wipers work as they should. All of the turn signals, hazard lights, headlights, brake lights etc. work perfect! The (aux power) cigarette lighter even works. Wow! All of the gauges look great, illuminate and operate correctly. The center console is not cracked or beat up, very nice! All of the switches, plastic trim pieces etc. are intact and look great. The interior is really nice throughout!
Ol' Blue has a great rust free solid tub. I am truly amazed how straight and solid the body is overall. So many of these were attacked by rust and many others were just abused over the years. This one obviously has been well cared for its whole life and that is evident everywhere you look. Some time in the 1990's it got a nice new paint job. The body was in excellent shape but the paint was oxidized. At this time they added Renegade stickers but chose not to put the letters spelling out Renegade on the hood. I like it this way but you could either remove the decals or finish the look with hood decals. (They are available to buy online) The paint does have some scratches, chips, and minor blemishes as to be expected on any used vehicle that gets driven. That being said, the paint is very shiny and looks really nice. The rocker panels are solid and extremely straight. The tub corners are rust free and extremely nice. The inner fender and fender lip area are in amazing condition. All of the body lines fit well and look great. The bumpers are straight and look great. The floor pan is rust free and solid. I removed the vinyl floor in the cargo area to get pictures that show how impressive this floor is. No weld in patches etc., original, solid and rust free! Please take the time to check out the many detailed photographs below that really show how nice this Jeep is throughout.
Ol' Blue has the 2.5L 4 cylinder that appears to be the original engine and looks to be 100 percent stock. The engine bay has a nice clean original look and is well sorted. The engine fires up and starts quite easily. This thing just purrs, very smooth. There isn't any strange noises, ticks or knocks. Ol' Blue runs really well and has pretty good power for what it is. (Remember, it is a JEEP not a Corvette :)The exhaust quiets the engine well and resonates a very nice subtle tone thatsounds great! The drivetrain is very dry with no major leaks. There is minor seeping as to be expected and may drip now and then if it is parked for extended periods of time. This is an old non restored vehicle and this should be expected . The 4 speed manual transmission shifts smooth in and out of all gears. There is no grinding or strange bearing whines. The clutch feels great and is predictable on engagement/disengagement. This has manual locking front hubs. The transfer case shifts into all positions properly and the 4WD works as it should. Driving this down the road it accelerates and stops smooth and predictable. It flows through the gears very nicely. There is no shimmy or pull to either side while going down the road or under heavy braking. The steering is nice and responsive. The suspension is firm, predictable, and handles very nice. (Remember, it's a Jeep and drives like one.) You'll love it!
It is amazing how much attention I get in Ol' Blue just running around town. I was parked next to a very nicely restored 60's muscle car and guess who got the thumbs up? You got it, the Jeep did. Everyone just loves this clean little Jeep. With a small suspension lift and 32" A/T tires, (lots of tread) I think this is the perfect setup. It has a great stance and look but retains a really nice ride quality. Ol' Blue is just a blast to drive around in. I find that I am never in a hurry and have a smile on my face when driving this Jeep. It is a breath of fresh air from the daily rat race and everyone always in such a hurry.
I have done my best to accurately describe this Jeep both in writing as well as 100+ detailed photographs. I think you should have a very good idea of what this Jeep is and what it is not. Please take the time to read the complete ad and study all of the photographs, there is lots of useful information. Pictures look good, but wait until you see this in person and drive it. Someone is getting a heck of a Jeep and is sure to fall in love with Ol' Blue!
