This Jeep has been in the same family for over 20 years. This Jeep appears to have a repaint on the hood area only. Other than that, I strongly believe the rest of the Jeep is 100% original paint.
According to the daughter of the owner, the Jeep had a new motor put in it approximately 10 years ago. Since then, she stated the motor has less than 2000 miles on it, but she cannot find the documentation. The motor has a small metal stamp on it next to the serial number, so with certainty it was replaced. The motor runs excellent and both the transmission and transfer case were reportedly rebuilt around the same time. The transmission and transfer case shift tight and flawlessly. The Jeep does have typical (but very minor) oil leaks. I'd go through it after purchase and replace gaskets and hoses to make it a leak-free vehicle. I don't have the time to do this, but it's a days worth of work at most.
All gauges appear to be in good working order. Wipers, horn and all lights work. 31 x 10.5 BFG A/Ts in very good shape with 90% or more tread left.
This Jeep is rust free except in one real small area underneath the passenger side roll bar foot, which unfortunately is a common area. However, the rust is minimal and if you decide to do a repair in this area it is relatively easy. Other than that, the floor boards throughout the entire Jeep are outstanding. I'd say the driver side front floor board has superficial surface rust from paint that has worn off. Barely any pitting, if at all. This is a good, clean desert southwest Jeep! No rot on any of the pillars, frame, or windshield frame.
The fiberglass hard top is in excellent condition except for a piece of fiberglass that is missing from the driver side door jamb. I had a boat shop repair this once before on a different Jeep I had and it cost me $150 and came out perfect. The Jeep's body is very good with only extremely minor dents or dings. You can still see the "ghosting" where the original Renegade stripes were on the side of the body. A real cool patina look! No damage of any significance. Zero typical rust on the outside of the tub above the rockers and fenders. The hood has a couple small dents and as you can see it was drilled for hood pins. Not too difficult to revert back.
This Jeep is offered very well at my current asking price. I'm open to offers, but please don't submit anything ridiculous. I know the Jeep market very well and know this is a great value even at my full asking price. Clean, clear AZ title.
Ask any and all questions PRIOR to making an offer. Call anytime with questions. 520-789-0875. $500 deposit expected immediately after agreed price. Final payment in full expected within 3 business days of purchase via cashiers check or bank wire. I'll store the Jeep for a few weeks pending pick up. I'm more than happy to share my transporters contact information with you if you need good, reliable transport. Or better yet, drive up with your trailer, drink a beer with me, and tow your new Jeep home. I do believe this Jeep will drive clear across the country without any hiccups if you decide to fly in and driver her home, but keep in mind it is a 35 year old vehicle and things can and do break unexpectedly.
