1979 Jeep CJ5 4x4 LS Swap
Selling my Jeep CJ5 for no other reason than I have a new project vehicle that needs work.
Engine and drivetrain:
Approx 400hp 3rd Gen 5.3L GM LS engine.
-Engine is all rebuilt with ARP bolts
-Mild comp cam with new comp cams valve springs upgrade
-New stainless steel mid length headers. -PSI stand alone wiring harness
-New aluminum radiator
-New 10mm pro race spark plug wires
-double iridium plugs
-Custom exhaust.
-Rebuild 4L60E overdrive transmission and torque converter
-Dana 300 transfer case.
-390:1 differential gears
-Brand new STT pro 33x12.5x15 tires
-New wheels
-New high amp battery with 4 year warranty and high amp alternator.
-Runs very strong.
-Transfer case needs a new input seal that was quoted at $300CAD from a transmission shop.
-Transmssion seal is leaking so I’m including an additional 4L60E transmission that will be a direct, bolt in replacement.
Frame/brakes:
-2.5 body lift
-frame has been strengthened with 3/16” steel C-Chanel running length of suspension mounts to handle the power from the new LS engine.
-Newly fabricated transmission crossmember is made from 1/4” steel and is through bolted to the frame for added strength to the frame and crossmember.
-The frame has been seem sealed and then freshly undercoated after work
-New brake system (brake booster and master)
-New front rotors and pads
-New rear brake mechanism and shoes (pads)
Body:
-Front and rear SMF bumpers are powder coated black. Front bumper has 9.5ton Warn winch with remote, rear has swing away spare tire
-Newly powder coated roll cage and bestop bikini top. The powder coating is exceptionally nice looking.
-New 3/4ton GM steering box.
-New LED taillights.
-New Hood (Not painted yet)
-New Fender (Not installed yet)
-I was planning on putting on rock sliders if I were to keep it.
Front end:
Completely rebuild with top of the line“Moog” parts
-Warn locking hubs.
-Front end rebuild includes new (drag link, inner and outlet tie rod ends, inner and outer wheel bearings, Axle Ujoints, ball joints, fresh alignment etc.).
-No expense spared.
Interior:
Freshly restored a couple weeks ago with bed liner over the new floor pans
-Carbon fiber body wrap on the instrument panel
-Painted steering column.
-New Autometer gauged.
-Rear seat weather proof canvas like Upholstery
The only other thing this Jeep could use is your personal touch with a new coated of paint with your choice of colour or spray bed liner to really pop. Paint jobs for This size of vehicle have been quoted by body shops in Canada at $2500. Very minimal body work needed before paint.I would say almost no body work before spray bed liner if that is the route you will take.

$25,000 in quality, name brand parts alone in this Jeep.Labour just to do basic engine swap is quoted locally at $8,000-$10,000 plus parts.
You can’t build this Jeep for less even using cheap parts.
This is not a show vehicle but a really nice and fun to Drive daily driver for a great price.
Most parts on this Jeep don’t even have 100km on them.
