1994 Land Rover Range Rover Classic LWB 4.2 rust free NO RESERVE
1994 Land Rover Range Rover 4.2 LWB Description
This is a very solid nearly rust free Range Rover. Brooklands Green with light tan leather. It’s in MI now but it was a California vehicle originally. See auto check for details. It runs and drives very well. Almost all accessories are functional. If you know these vehicles you know the typical problem areas. I will address all of those in this description. It’s the LWB therefore it has the 4.2 engine which is a huge improvement over the 3.9 in the standard Range Rover. The power, torque and throttle response is much improved. This Rover was obviously well taken care of. I bought it locally from a gentleman who had purchased it from another family member who had owned it quite some time. The previous owner to him had removed the air suspension and installed standard coils and shocks. He also had the transmission rebuilt. The owner just before me had replaced the blower motor, heater core, and blower resister. He also installed new Goodyear A/T tires just a couple thousand miles ago. I bought it with the intention of sorting some minor issues and using it as a weekend driver. I then found a good deal on a 1995 SWB with a 4.6 swap and I’ve decided to focus on that truck and sell this one.
Interior is very clean! Some wear on the drivers seat. Light cracking on wood trim. Door panels are very solid! Including the commonly broken pockets. Carpet excellent. Rear cargo area very clean with all original trim except cargo cover. Headliner not bad. Stereo system is fully functional including subwoofer and factory CD changer. I haven’t tried the tape deck. Front speakers are aftermarket but nothing was “hacked up” in the install. All power windows work. Sunroof works. Drivers is loose in its track and needs a little help straightening on the way up. Power locks DO NOT work. Passenger power seat works. On drivers seat all motors run when buttons are pushed but seat does not move. No check lights on dash! And all lights are working (see video). Previous owner installed an aftermarket gauge set. It’s functional but not to my taste. I’ll leave it to the next owner to decide whether to keep it or not. A couple small holes were drilled in the center tray in the dash to install. They would be covered by the little rubber mat in that tray.
Suspension feels excellent. No clunks or shimmies. Motor runs well and has excellent power. Trans shifts as it should. Brakes feel great. ABS works. Rear calipers are brand new. Wheels in excellent condition. Tires are like new Goodyear Wrangler 225/75R16.
Body has some small dings and clear coat is faded on hood and roof.
Rust:
No rust in doors, cargo area, floors, etc. upper tailgate has typical rust but is functional, latches and works properly. Lower tailgate is excellent. Small area of touch up paint where there was slight surface rust on tailgate lower edge and passenger rear corner. Slight surface rust on underside and under hood. I can send more pics of any areas needed.
The only immediate mechanical needs are related to the exhaust. It is new from the cat back. Passenger side catalytic converter is very loose inside and rattles badly. Also exhaust leak between the exhaust manifold and head on the passenger side.
To summarize:
New:Tires, rear calipers, blower motor and heater core, trans rebuilt.
Needs:Exhaust leak at manifold fixed. Catalytic converter repaired or replaced. Power locks and power drivers seat fixed. Cosmetic misc.
