1979 Lincoln Continental Town Car Description

1979 Lincoln Continental Town Car

I purchased this car off the original family estate a few years ago the car is in good condition and an absolute pleasure to drive. I don’t get much time to pull her out of the garage and drive it so I have decided to put the old Lincoln up here on eBay for sale. This is a nice car with 95,000 miles on it.

This car appears to have every option available in 1979 except for leather interior. Below is a list of options for the car:

  • Cast Aluminum Rims

  • Automatic headlights and bright lights

  • Tilt steering wheel

  • Cruise control

  • Electronic radio with 8 track and floor button for seek function

  • Factory Citizens Band (CB) Radio

  • Dual power seats

  • Rear Defroster

  • Heated side view mirrors

  • Full vinyl top

  • Factory moon roof

  • Cold Air Conditioning

  • Hot Heat

  • Power Windows

  • Power locks (passenger door actuator is bad)

  • 400 ci V8

I am sure I have missed a few things but I think you get the picture, driving this car is like sitting on your living room couch and going down the road. The car is quiet, smooth and steering/braking is effortless for the driver. They truly don’t make cars like this anymore.

The body on the car is nice and rust free. It does have a few small nicks, scratches etc. to be normal with use of an almost 40 year old car. The front headlight covers do have stone chips on them and the car appears to have received a repaint many years ago. The vinyl top is in great shape with just some deterioration in the left rear corner that can be seen in the one photo, no signs of rust anywhere under the vinyl top. The chrome is beautiful on the car with no signs of wear or "veins" on it. This car has always been garage kept since new, the only time it gets wet is when I wash it.

The interior on the car is almost perfect, I only say almost because it is a 40 year old car. The original floor mats are still being used and very clean, the carpet is perfect. There is a copy of the build sheet in the glove box and there are no odors in the interior. Every option works on the car with the exception of the power antenna, clock runs slow, low fuel light comes on sometimes no matter how much fuel is in it and the passenger front door lock actuator.

Mechanically the car runs and drives great, no exhaust leaks or fluid leaks of any kind.Within the last 1500 miles the car has received a rebuilt carburetor, new fuel pump and other little odds and ends to be expected with use. I have not given it a tune up due to running great and I don’t know when the last one was performed. The ignition cables are still original with the year stamp on them but like I said she runs so smooth I did not see any reason to change them. The trunk is nice and clean and I don't believe the spare tire has ever touched the ground.

Please understand that this car is 40 years old and not perfect, if you are looking for a great driver to cruise around in and hit the local cruise nights this car is great. The car is currently registered and insured (classic car insurance) with an insurance company appraisal/replacement value of $12K that they determined, starting price is muchlower than that. Feel free to contact me with any questions and I highly encourage all interested to come and look/drive the car so you know exactly what you are buying. Shipping is the responsibility of the purchaser but I am happy to assist however possible.
