Ford... on November 2, 1935. Bridging the wide gap between the Ford model lines and grand, top-of-the-line Lincolns, the Zephyr was beautifully styled by former yacht designer E.T. Bob Gregorie and remains an Art Deco-inspired design masterpiece. The only car in its class with V-12 power, the Zephyr offered a smooth ride with all occupants comfortably seated within the cars wheelbase. First offered only as a 4-door sedan and 2-door coupe-sedan, the Zephyr line included a full town limousine and six-passenger coupe by 1937, followed by a convertible sedan and dashing convertible coupe from 1938. Careful refinements typified Zephyr production, including quieter running with hydraulic valve lifters in 1938. Hydraulic brakes and beautifully updated styling came for 1939. Beautifully finished in period correct Maroon paint over fresh Burgundy leather upholstery, this concours-quality Lincoln-Zephyr is very rare as 1 of just 640 glamorous Convertible Coupes produced for 1939. A long-term Arizona car, this 1939 Lincoln-Zephyr continues to benefit from a full restoration. Colors are excellent, including Zephyr Coach Maroon paint, Burgundy leather upholstery and a Tan canvas top with matching boot cover, all enhanced by excellent chrome and brightwork including the convertible top bows. Additional features include a large central speedometer with modernistic Lincoln-Zephyr script, including fuel-level, oil pressure, coolant temperature and battery charging indicators. A handsome original electric clock resides just below. A banjo steering wheel with a flawless Ivory plastic rim, matching shift knob, dual outside mirrors, a drivers side spotlight and rear-fender skirts add further appeal. The Zephyr V-12 engine is very nicely detailed to show-worthy quality and the vehicle runs and drives very well, with easy and positive shift action once underway. Period steel wheels and Lincoln-Zephyr scripted bright hub caps are surrounded by a set of whitewall tires. Striking throughout, this 1939 Lincoln-Zephyr has most recently been displayed at the October 2019 Lake Forest Concours dElegance (insert prize/award if appropriate). One of the most important Lincoln models of the prewar era, this 1939 Lincoln-Zephyr Convertible Coupe is rare, highly collectible and handsomely presented in show quality.
