1973 Lotus Europa Twin Cam Description

The Lotus Europa was built from 1966 through 1975 and was one of the first vehicles to use a mid-engine rear-wheel drive layout. During its production lifespan, around 9,300 examples were produced. The vehicle sat low and was designed as a replacement for the popular Lotus 7. From S1’s to S2’s the Europa as many cars did drew attention from enthusiast all over the world. After its initial introduction the car vastly improved over the next few years with the final... examples being introduced with this vehicle the 1973 Lotus Europa TC (twin cam) Special with the adaption of the Austin 5 Speed and Lotus Big Valve 1558cc engine Horsepower increased to 126hp, it was producing 0-60 times at 7 seconds and top speeds of 123MPH. Not mind blowing power for 1973 but for a 1554 curb weight Vehicle at 45/55 !! needless to say this car was a little rocket and small lightweight performance is what Lotus to win the Indianapolis 500 in 1965. Carrying over the winning tricks and trades the formula for the Europa was born for 1966. The Europa was available till 1975 and produced less than 10,000 cars. Today if you can find a good clean example that has not been raced or abused, you can satisfy your sports car desire to own for a fraction of price for Ferrari, Jaguar or Aston Martin. Truly unique and highly undervalued in this market the Lotus Europa is a fun and exciting car to own. They offers fantastic performance with a very low and sporty design. This vehicle is in excellent condition and is very well sorted. The car came to us from a collector who adores his cars and dials them in for daily use. This car has undergone a meticulous restoration and included many many additional upgrades to correct a faulty factory design such as repositioning of pedals, upgrading components for suspension and safety. A fire extinguisher system has been installed etc. The exterior paint looks beautiful the yellow tone complements its additional colors well, finished in a race motif of silver stripes and my lucky number, along with various cosmetics additions to accessorize this Sweet little twin Cam! The car runs and drives excellent everything has been rebuilt and dialed in. The vehicle needs absolutely nothing to be enjoyed as you wish. We have taken the car out several times for various cars and coffee, cruise nights and a local show in San Diego. We showed the car at the La Jolla Concours the weekend of April 7th and toured it on the Tour D'Elegance Rally. It performed great. Check out our youtube channel for a Video. The car gets looks and attention where ever it goes, I don’t know what draws a crown more! the Lotus or my ‘6.1 268lb frame getting in and out of it. But I do fit and I love to drive it.
