Overview:
Up for sale is my 1988 Mercedes-Benz 560SL Roadster. It has 61,445 original miles and is in very nice condition with documentation dating back to new. It runs and drives excellent with no issues as it’s been primarily used as a pleasure vehicle over the years and not daily transportation. This is evident by the low mileage and cleanliness. I bought this 560SL earlier this year out of New Jersey and shipped it to Michigan and always keep it stored indoors at my private facility when not in use on sunny weekend pleasure drives. Overall it is a very nice well cared for example of the top-of-the line 560SL from the late 80s in-which the collectability of these has taken off. I bought it because I always wanted a 560SL and now that I got my fix, it's time to move it onto its next caretaker.
History:
As evident by the original sales paperwork, it was purchased new at Gulf Stream Motors in Palm Beach, FL in December of 1987 as the original owner traded in a Signal Red 1986 560SL for it and it remained in FL until spring of 2013. From there, it spent some time in NJ before coming to MI.
Exterior:
The color is the original code 473 Champaign Metallic and the paint is in very good condition showing only minor blemishes consistent with pleasure driving over the last 28 years. I’d classify it as a high-end driver as the paint is still very glossy and I had a professional detail done to it and the clear coat is extremely smooth. The chrome is in pretty good shape too showing minor wear. All the lights are in good working condition and all of the glass is in great shape.
Interior:
The interior is finished in Crème Beige Leather with a Chocolate Brown soft top and it is in exceptionally good condition overall. The carpet and seats are in very good condition as are the hardtop and soft top. The heat and A/C work great as does the stereo and all the speakers. Truly a remarkably well kept interior.
Wheels/Tires:
The wheels are original and are in great shape and are wrapped in newer Michelin MXV Primacy tires with a lot of tread left.
Undercarriage:
Underneath this example shows quite well as its very clean and well kept.
Documentation and Maintenance:
As mentioned early, documentation I have for the car includes the original sales paperwork showing the original owner traded in a 1986 560SL for this 1988 with a selling price of $63,291. Also included are the original books, original manuals, 1 original key, original hardtop tools, and a fitted Mercedes car cover. The maintenance history on this car is well documented via the service booklet showing the car had regular service intervals as well as by accompanying receipts and within the last couple months a new radiator was installed as well as the A/C was serviced and it blows ice cold. Also, the car retains all of the original VIN stickers on the hood and body panels indicating these are original to the car and I’ve seen no evidence of it ever having an accident or paint work.
Payment Terms/Shipping/Contact:
Clean and clear title. For any questions, call or text Adam at 734-564-2881 or email through eBay. I've bought and sold many cars from my collection on eBay and I'm very easy to deal with. I can also help arrange shipping to anywhere in the lower 48. Otherwise if you desire, you arrange your own shipping or pick up in-person.
Only payment methods that I’ll accept are cash in person, certified cashier’s check in person in which it needs to clear my bank first, or wire transfer to my bank account which needs to clear my bank first. Once payment is finalized I’ll release the Jeep and title. If not in-person, I'll overnight the title and prepare the car for shipping.
