1981 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class 380SL Description

For sale is my classic silver 1981 Mercedes Benz 380SL convertible.
The good: All-original. Starts right up every time. Very sporty v8, fun to drive and gets a lot of attention on the road. Brand new tires with zero miles on them just put on the car. Brand new battery. The car is fine as is but could use a paint job and some upholstery/interior work. Soft top and removable hard top. I have clean carfax and clean/clear Texas title. Antique vehicle registered through 2018.
The bad: AC is not working. Might need new compressor? Soft top is torn. Car is putting out smoke from the tailpipe after overfilling the oil during a recent oil change. Appears to be burning off excess oil. Selling because I don't have time to work on this project anymore with newborn in the house and never got around to restoring it. This will be a beautiful classic with some restoration. All original, sold as-is.
