1979 Mercedes-Benz Other Description

Up for auction is this Unimog 406/Case MB4-94 Snow Blower & Back Hoe kit.
The Tractor is a 1979 Unimog 406 with Case Tractor adaptations. OM352 6 cyl engine with 1367 hours & 5470 miles. Has the famous 24 speed Super Crawler gear box (the tires barely turn in the lowest gear, 45 mph top speed), Front and Rear PTO fully shift-able with 2 speeds and a double action clutch that engages your implements before moving the tractor, On board air compressor, 4 wheel disc brakes, ROPS, air actuated locking differentials front and rear, Case implement attachment system, front, rear and deck. Has standard Unimog 2-spool hydraulic system on steering column with up/down, float and flow. Has the High Volume Hydraulic system, Eberspacher/Espar furnace for cab heat, Heated Windshield, electric wipers with delay system, extra lighting systems…very long list. No leaks, almost a dry shop floor underneath. New battery. The tractor starts, runs and drives beautifully, is at near 100% functionality. Even the turn signals work! Cosmetically a B minus/C plus, some rust, not bad. Check fluids, turn key, ready to work.
The Schmidt VF3C blower is in very similar condition to the tractor, has only 834 hours. The engine & drive train is in a cartridge, plugged onto the Case system in the back. The OM352A turbocharged 6 cyl engine @ 170 hp roars like a lion, uses very little fluids. Drives a manual (blocked out, 2nd, 3rd, & 4th gears available) transmission and air controlled 2 speed transfer case. Clutch is air controlled; everything is electric over hydraulic with 2 control boxes mounted in the cab of the Unimog. Full instrumentation in the same control system. Separate diesel tank in the blower cartridge. Includes jack system to lift the blower cartridge off the Unimog. All drive shafts and hydraulic connections are on quick-connect systems. Includes rear bumper counterweights. Fully turn-key operational.
A video of this machine in operation is on youtube; search unimog snowcutter
The other main winter implement is a huge Schmidt Engineering (different, US based company interfaced with the German Schmidt, Unimog and Case Tractor Co) Snow Plow Blade 11’ wide. This segmented blade is designed to lift onto curbs and obstacles, has hydraulic lift and angle. Main lift cylinder has been rebuilt, telescoping 2 stage angle cylinders are recent, excellent. No leaks, fully functional, moves unbelievable quantities of snow at good speed. Unimog will push it thru 3’ of fresh snow and has moved 6’ of very cold light snow with it.
Once the system is set up, change from blower to blade takes about 15 minutes. From blade to blower maybe 30. Very easy.
Summer Implements:Case Dozer Blade. Lift only, manual angle (get out and change some big links by hand). Fully functional, grades dirt roads amazingly well.
Case Extend-a-hoe back hoe: the only implement not used with this Unimog. Fully functional, includes lift cylinders to load onto the back deck, Unimog has the hi-volume hydraulic pump to run it. Came close to being operational, but a hose leaked and the installation was halted. Hose is now fixed and ready to work.
Schmidt Front Loader Bucket. Attaches using a different mounting system to the front of the Unimog. 3/4 yard capacity, lifts high enough to load a standard dump truck. Fully functional. (Photos added 11-19)
EXTRAS: Numerous extras and spares are included; good Michelin tires, front fenders, crane lift for blower motor plus jack stands, supplies, filters, sheer pins, extra hydraulic fittings, manual and parts books...long list.
This equipment would be ideal for a mountain based homeowners association. A contractor looking for unusually functional summer/winter equipment could make this into a great business. The Unimog will go nearly anywhere. A wide range of other attachments are available, or could be fabricated for any special purpose.
To be sold as a complete kit, will not sell implements separately. No warranty, as is where is. Sold with a Bill of Sale (ebay doesn't allow 'never titled').
