1992 Mercedes-Benz 500E E500 Pearl Black California Car
1992 Mercedes-Benz 500 Series 500E Description
This 1992 Mercedes 500 E is in Pearl Black with Grey. The famously bulletproof W124 Mercedes sedan was a handsome car that radiated a timeless quality. And then Porsche got its hands on it. While Mercedes called the shots on what it wanted the 500 E to be, it was Porsche that made it special. Cars would go back and forth between the two factories. They would leave Mercedes-Benz to go to Porsche, and not just any Porsche factory but the Rossle Bau Factory (the birthplace of the 959) and back and forth this would go. Cars would leave Mercedes to go to Porsche to have the fenders altered to accommodate 16 inch alloy wheels, install an all aluminum 5.0L V8 under the hood and fit a reinforced rear suspension. Then the cars would be sent back to Mercedes-Benz for paint work. Following that, each 500 E would then return back to Zuffenhousen for final assembly. After 18 days of back and forth the cars where ready to be shipped. About 1500 examples made it to the U.S between 1992 and 1994. This car began its life in the States where it was sold new at Fletcher Jones Motorcars in Newport Beach, California on October 17, 1992 to its first owner in Corona Del Mar.
